Chapter 64: A Villainess vs. Actual Danger (For Once)

Seraphina had faced many things.

Angry noblewomen? Check.

Dueling vampires? Check.

Annoying love interests? Unfortunately, check.

But this?

This was NEW.

A MONSTER?! REALLY?!

The castle shook again as a monstrous shadow loomed in the hallway.

Seraphina gulped.

"…Please tell me that's just a very ugly butler."

Vincent drew his sword.

"That is not a butler."

Lucien narrowed his eyes.

"A berserk bloodbeast."

Damian grinned.

"How exciting."

Seraphina grabbed his sleeve.

"NO. NOT EXCITING. BAD. VERY BAD."

The gigantic creature let out an ear-splitting roar.

Cedric flipped his hair.

"I suppose this is my cue to be heroic."

Seraphina threw up her hands.

"Oh, NOW you're useful?!"

The Battle Begins

The bloodbeast charged.

Seraphina dodged (barely).

A claw swiped past her, slashing the air where her head had just been.

"OH, COME ON!"

Lucien moved like lightning, striking the beast's arm.

Damian laughed, flipping over its back and landing a hit.

Cedric posed dramatically while casting a spell.

("WHY ARE YOU POSING?!" Seraphina screamed.)

Vincent calmly stabbed the monster in the leg.

It roared in pain.

Seraphina's Brilliant Plan (…Sort Of)

Seraphina watched the chaos.

Then she had an idea.

"HEY! BLOODBEAST!" she yelled.

The monster turned to her.

Seraphina grinned.

"You see these guys?" She gestured to the vampires.

"They're WAY tastier than me."

The beast paused.

Then it slowly looked at Cedric.

Cedric's eyes widened.

"WAIT. NO."

The monster lunged at him.

Cedric let out an undignified yelp as he dodged.

Lucien facepalmed.

"Seraphina, that was NOT a plan."

Seraphina shrugged.

"Hey, it worked."

Victory? Maybe?

With Cedric acting as a VERY panicked distraction, the others attacked.

Vincent's blade sliced through the beast's chest.

Lucien's magic locked its movements.

Damian stabbed it through the heart.

The bloodbeast collapsed.

Seraphina sighed in relief.

"Finally."

Cedric huffed.

"Unbelievable. I almost died!"

Seraphina patted his shoulder.

"But you didn't. And that's what matters."

Cedric glared.

"I hate you."

Seraphina smirked.

"I know."
