Seraphina stormed back into her room and immediately threw herself onto her bed.

Lila peeked in, looking way too entertained.

"So… how was your date?"

Seraphina groaned into her pillow.

"It wasn't a date."

Lila gasped.

"Lucien took you to the most expensive tea house in the kingdom, held your hand, and kissed it at sunset. How is that NOT a date?"

Seraphina sat up, glaring.

"He tricked me into going. That doesn't count!"

Lila snickered.

"Uh-huh. And did you, by chance, enjoy this 'not-a-date'?"

Seraphina huffed.

"Fun is a strong word."

Lila clapped her hands.

"Oh no. You're using the same excuse again. That means you DID have fun!"

Seraphina picked up a pillow and threw it at her.

Lila dodged effortlessly.

"Admit it, Seraphina. You're starting to like him."

Seraphina scoffed.

"Lucien is annoying, smug, arrogant—"

"And ridiculously handsome," Lila added helpfully.

Seraphina ignored that.

She refused to admit that her heart had skipped a beat when Lucien smiled at her.

And she absolutely refused to acknowledge that his touch had been… warm.

No. This was dangerous territory.

Lucien Kingston leaned back in his chair, sipping wine with a smug smile.

His best friend, Damian, raised an eyebrow.

"You look… far too satisfied. What did you do?"

Lucien smirked.

"Seraphina went on a date with me."

Damian blinked.

"And she agreed?"

"Not exactly."

Damian sighed.

"So you kidnapped her."

Lucien grinned.

"She enjoyed it."

Damian shook his head.

"She's going to murder you one day."

Lucien swirled his wine.

"Then at least I'll die happy."

Seraphina woke up to a large bouquet of roses on her bedside table.

She stared.

A small note was attached.

Hope you slept well.

Seraphina crushed the note in her fist.

Lila squealed.

"This is so romantic!"

Seraphina groaned loudly.

"This is so annoying!"

Lila winked.

"Sounds like love to me."

Seraphina threw another pillow.
