Silver's sword crackled with Chidori energy as he stood over the fallen body of the elite Jonin. The Sand Ninjutsu user had underestimated him, relying too heavily on his sand techniques but not mastering them to the level of his fellow shinobi. It had been his downfall, and Silver had exploited that weakness with precision.
But there was no time to relish the victory. The remaining three Jonin were still on the move, their eyes filled with the desperation of knowing their time was running out. Silver gritted his teeth, his mind already calculating his next steps.
"No one escapes," he muttered, his voice low but resolute.
The three Jonin broke into a sprint, trying to put distance between themselves and the deadly ANBU Captain. Silver wasn't about to let them get away, not after everything that had happened. His chakra surged as he activated his Chidori variant, his sword crackling with electricity, while his mind raced through tactics.
He launched forward with blinding speed, chasing down the first Jonin, his Chidori crackling violently. But the Jonin was fast, using the environment to his advantage—darting through the trees and shifting his position to throw off Silver's pursuit. Silver snarled, adjusting his approach as he followed close behind.
In an instant, he made a hand sign and summoned a lightning wolf. The creature materialized, its body composed of crackling electricity, its fangs sharp and ready.
"Lightning Wolf!" Silver shouted, sending the beast charging after the Jonin, the crackling wolf moving like a bolt of lightning. The Jonin whipped around, his eyes wide as he realized that the creature was closing in, but with a leap and a well-timed evasive maneuver, he managed to avoid the wolf's strike.
Silver's gaze hardened. The Lightning Wolf dissipated into the air, but Silver's resolve did not waver. The chase continued.
He quickly adjusted his tactics. With another burst of speed, Silver closed the distance between himself and the Jonin, bringing his sword forward with deadly intent. He unleashed a Chidori Eiso (Chidori Spear), extending the lightning-infused blade from his Kusunagi sword like a spear, aiming directly at the Jonin's chest. The Jonin barely managed to twist away, but the energy from the spear still grazed his side, leaving a trail of searing pain.
Silver didn't let up. His eyes glinted with fury as he shifted into another Chidori variant. With a swift movement, Silver spun, calling forth Chidori Senbon (Chidori Needles). He thrust his sword forward, and from its tip, a barrage of lightning-charged needles shot out in rapid succession, striking the trees around him. The Jonin attempted to dodge, but the sheer speed of the needles made it nearly impossible. One of the needles grazed his leg, another catching him in the shoulder.
The Jonin stumbled, but he managed to right himself, though he was visibly weakened.
Silver wasn't done yet. He summoned a bolt of raw lightning energy into his hand, transforming it into Chidori Nagashi (Chidori Stream), releasing a sweeping wave of lightning that crackled around his body. The attack was wide and all-encompassing, the lightning arcing outward, forcing the Jonin to leap into the air to avoid being overwhelmed.
The Jonin's desperation grew, and in a final attempt, he used sand-based techniques to create a protective barrier, but it was not enough to block the power of Silver's attacks. The lightning managed to breach his defenses, pushing him back.
Silver advanced, the gap closing rapidly, but just before he could strike, the second Jonin appeared from the shadows, running toward the first Jonin and helping him back to his feet. "We can't stay here!" the second Jonin shouted.
Realizing the battle was slipping from his grasp, Silver adjusted his tactics again. His eyes never left the first Jonin as he pushed forward, the Chidori crackling at his fingertips. But before he could strike, another sand technique swirled around him, forcing Silver to jump back and shift focus.
Seeing the opportunity to thin out their ranks, Silver quickly launched another Chidori Senbon, targeting the second Jonin who had just joined the fight. The speed of the needles forced the Jonin to take cover, and Silver pushed on.
But as he pursued, one of the remaining Jonin threw a smoke bomb, filling the air with thick, black smoke. Silver couldn't rely on his eyes alone. Instead, he let his senses take over, using his heightened hearing to track the movements of his targets. The two remaining Jonin made a break for it, using the smoke to cover their escape.
Silver's frustration mounted. With a deep breath, he steadied himself and summoned one final Chidori Nagashi. The electric current surged outward, lighting up the darkness around him. But by the time the smoke cleared, the Jonin were gone.
The crackling energy slowly faded from Silver's body as he stood, watching the empty forest with a scowl. He had come so close, but the two Jonin had managed to escape.
"Damn it," he muttered under his breath.
Turning back, he rejoined his team, his heart still pounding from the adrenaline of the chase.
"We lost two," Silver said, his voice low but filled with determination. "But we'll find them. This isn't over."
Kaori, ever calm and steady, met his gaze, nodding resolutely. "We'll track them down. You know we will."
Ryota, his usual calm demeanor unshaken, added, "Next time, we finish it."
Hiroshi gave a quiet sigh, his eyes hardening. "We won't let them hurt anyone else."
Silver nodded, clenching his fists. "No one escapes justice."
As they began to move out, Silver's mind raced through what they had learned during the fight. The two Jonin would not get away so easily. The battle may have been a draw for now, but Silver would not rest until every last one of them was brought down. He had a score to settle.
