Questions

Selene's lips trembled at his childish words, while Orion looked at Eldric's back with bewilderment.

'How the fuck is this old geezer so shameless?? And so childish, no less.' Even he was surprised at the childishness of Eldric.

They hurriedly continued forward, and after a while, they reached a rough forest road where a carriage was standing with a coachman there.

"Ah, Master Eldric, Mistress Selene, are you guys safe?" The coachman was a middle-aged man wearing a butler suit with a mustache.

"Haha, Lucan. We are safe, and I also found what I came here for." He gestured towards Orion to introduce him.

Orion raised an eyebrow, 'Came here for? He came to look for me? How? I was just born, was he spawn camping me?' He couldn't understand how he was found so soon.

"He is Orion, my grandson," he proudly announced.

The butler's eyes widened, "But Master, the young master—"

Eldric raised his hand. "No need to mention it, I have already made my decision."

The butler opened and closed his mouth, yet no further words came out. He exhaled a sigh and bowed towards Orion, "Greetings, Young Master Orion, I am Lucan, the butler of the Helstorm family."

Orion noticed how he had mentioned a Young Master before; he decided to ask about him later and nodded his head, "I am Pri—"

"Cough." Eldric softly coughed.

"Orion. My name is Orion." He quickly changed his words and corrected himself. He was getting better and better at the common tongue of the continent after conversing with Eldric and Selene all the way.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's quickly enter the carriage." Selene pulled on Orion's hand and dragged him towards the carriage.

"…Mistress quite likes the young man, huh?" Lucan softly whispered.

Eldric nodded his head, "Yes, and he will be the Young Master of the Helstorm family from now on."

Lucan's eyes turned reminiscent as he remembered the former days when his Old Master and Old Mistress used to play with Young Master and teach him their magic.

The two of them made their way towards the carriage soon after. Eldric entered first before Lucan sat at the coachman seat and got the horses ready to go back.

Inside the carriage, Eldric sat on one side and Selene and Orion sat on the other. "So, Orion, I'm sure you have questions to ask. Why don't you ask us now, since the journey back will take a few hours."

Orion nodded his head. He thought about what would be the best question to ask in this scenario. After thinking for a short bit, his eyes lit up, "What are the levels of mages or other professions divided into?"

Eldric laughed, "Haha, lad, I knew it. You would ask this first after seeing my amazing spells."

"Quit boasting and answer him." Selene quickly cut off his laughter.

"Cough, so the levels of Awakened are divided into 9 tiers. The first three tiers are addressed as the Awakening Stage; this is the stage where everyone will learn to control mana and engrave spells in their body or the Sea of Consciousness. They have corresponding Tier 1 to Tier 3 spells.

"Then comes Tier 4 to Tier 6, which is collectively addressed as the Mortal Evolution Stage. The Awakeners become true powerhouses at this level, securing entire kingdoms from outside threats. They are also the backbone of most kingdoms.

"But Tier 7 to Tier 9 each have their own ranks. Since the gap between Tier 8 and Tier 7 is bigger than the combined gap between Tier 7 and Tier 1, Tier 7 Awakeners are called Ascendant. They have truly reached a dreadful level, able to destroy mountains and overturn the sea. They are rare in kingdoms, and all of them are a national treasure."

"Alright, enough, enough, he will learn the rest later. No need to keep on blabbering like an old fool." Selene got bored and quickly shut him up.

Eldric's eyes twitched as she was the one who asked him to tell Orion about the power tiers of their world.

Orion inwardly nodded. What Eldric told him was the same as what he had learned from his inheritance, but he just wanted to be sure about Eldric's motives.

'Looks like he won't restrict my growth at least.'

"So dear Orion, what else would you like to ask?" Selene dotingly asked.

'Why is she so close all of a sudden? Is she… after my body?' His body slightly shivered before he threw away the useless thought from his mind.

"Where are we going?" This was his main question; he didn't know which part of the world he was in or even which continent.

"Ho ho, that is a good question. Let me tell you which kingdom we are going towards, it is the Thunderpeak Kingdom. It is one of the oldest kingdoms of Shy Shattering E—"

"Stop, stop, just tell him about our house and the region we live in. No need to go into the history of Thunderpeak Kingdom." Selene quickly shut him up again.

'This old hag…' Eldric grumbled inwardly before forming his words, "Hmm… We live in one of the main cities of Thunderpeak Kingdom: Greythorn City. It is outside of the Stormwood Forest. You are lucky you were only at the outskirts of this forest."

This time, even Selene nodded her head in agreement, "That's true, Orion. Deeper inside, there are thunderstorms all the time. Even the flowers and trees are thunder-infused. They can be deadly for a non-awakened."

Eldric stroked his beard and thoughtfully said, "I wonder which element Orion will awaken. It would be good if it's Thunder."

Selene looked at him sharply, "Hmph! You just want him to inherit your shitty offensive magic."

Eldric's face changed, as if someone stepped on his tail, "What did you say old woman? Do you know how many people will kneel down and thank their ancestors at an opportunity to learn magic from me?"

"Hmph, all of them must be idiots…"

The old couple continued to bicker back and forth, leaving Orion wondering to himself about the Thunderpeak Kingdom as well as the location where his new home would be: Greythorn City.
