Lifespan

On the way, Orion asked a few more basic questions about the city as well as what the culture of the kingdom was like.

And he was quite happy to learn that the people value power, resilience, and survival above all else. There were no Gods whom the people of Thunderpeak Kingdom worshipped. All of them only believed in strength.

The place he was most interested in was the Thunderhall Academy. Where all awakeners from the Kingdom gathered to learn.

Any person who has awakened before the age of 16 can go to the academy to learn magic or combat skills. The fees were paid by the royal family of Thunderpeak Kingdom.

Most of the teachers of the academy were at the Mortal Evolution Stage, with the Dean being a Peak Tier 6 Awakener. He was a true powerhouse of the kingdom.

While the others were mostly at Tier 4, there were a few stronger teachers at Tier 5.

'Should I enter the academy directly? Or gather some more info about the politics of this kingdom?' Orion thought to himself while looking out the window of the carriage.

Eldric and Selene had calmed down, and both were resting with their eyes closed. Despite the fast speed of the horses, it would still take them a long time to travel back home.

'From what I know, even the Human Empires have been at war since a long time ago. Even though they stand together against the other races, I can't rule out the possibility of an all-out war happening between them.' He rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming from all the complicated politics that awaited him.

'Alright, I will join the academy in a few months. Until then, I will spend more time with the two of them.' He glanced back towards the old couple.

A strange sense of warmth surged inside his heart, remembering how they both treated him. 'Sigh… looks like I can only follow along and see where I will end up.'

It would be a lie to say that he wasn't enjoying this situation. As long as he was smart about it, he could reach the peak of this world by slowly learning everything.

'Oh yeah system, what is my lifespan? If I remember correctly, the average lifespan of a human here is 120 years due to Mana passively enhancing their bodies. And Tier 9 mages can even live up to several hundred years, while True Dragons can live for thousands of years.'

He inwardly asked, since the system hadn't given him a lifespan column.

Orion quickly scanned through the system screen. 'Hmm? Lifespan of 9,000 years compared to 3,000 years of True Dragon Lifespan? That's triple that of the apex species of this world. Wait, system, will I keep becoming powerful as I age like a true dragon?'

He waited for a second before realizing the system won't answer him. 'Hmm… the system doesn't have much sentience yet. Let's see what else—Hatchling? So I'm at the hatchling stage currently?'

After gaining a human form, he had thought he might have passed the Hatchling stage and directly entered the Juvenile Stage of a True Dragon.

'Looks like I need to think up something. Dragons can enter deep slumber for months while undergoing their evolution.' He didn't think much of it, since he still had at least a few months before he would have to undergo evolution.

10–15 years was the average age of a hatchling; after reaching 15, they will soon enter hibernation to evolve into a Juvenile Dragon. But they also need a huge amount of energy in order to do so. Otherwise, they will constantly be in a state of half evolution until their body gets the energy.

In more severe cases, True Dragons can also die from not gaining enough energy, and their bodies begin to eat themselves. But it was extremely rare, as True Dragons are the apex hunters of this world.

Only the True Demon could compare to the Ancient Dragons. But they were so far away from the current Orion that he didn't know how many thousands of years it might take him.

'It was really a minor upgrade. The only thing that changed was the two sections: my lifespan and rank.' He shook his head and closed the screen.

"Mmm… I should sleep as well." He said, yawning. Ever since being born, he hasn't had the time to sleep yet.

After catching a chance, he decided to sleep and see what sleeping in his new body felt like.

"Or…ion…"

"Wa..ke..up"

Orion's eyes fluttered as he heard faint noises from the background. "Mmm, who is it?" He tiredly opened his eyes, but he soon gained clarity remembering his new life.

"Orion, we have arrived at our home." Selene softly said.

Eldric stepped down the carriage, extending his hand towards Orion, "Come here, lad, let me show you around your new house."
