Chapter 37: The Heir’s Pendant

The morning after Professor McGonagall's visit, Harry sat in his room, flipping through one of his newly purchased books. Despite knowing Hogwarts would provide him with formal education, he wasn't content to wait. Every spare moment was dedicated to learning, refining his skills, and preparing for the unknown challenges ahead.

As he was lost in thought, a familiar pop echoed through the room, and Timmy appeared, looking unusually serious. The elf held a small, intricately carved wooden box, which he placed gently on Harry's desk.

"Master Harry," Timmy began, his voice laced with reverence, "Timmy has something important to give you. It is the rightful possession of the Potter heir."

Harry raised an eyebrow and set his book aside. "What is it?"

Timmy carefully opened the box, revealing a stunning pendant. The chain was made of enchanted silver, gleaming softly even in the dim light. The pendant itself was a deep crimson gem, cut into the shape of a phoenix, its wings spread wide as if ready to take flight. Golden runes ran along the edges, pulsing faintly with magic.

Harry could feel its power immediately. The pendant wasn't just an ornament—it was alive with ancient enchantments.

"This…" Harry whispered, reaching out to touch it. The moment his fingers brushed the gem, warmth spread through his body, like a comforting embrace of magic recognizing its rightful owner.

Timmy nodded. "This is the Heir's Pendant, Master Harry. Every noble wizarding family has one, passed down through generations. The Potter pendant is special—it carries the protections of your ancestors and marks you as the true heir of House Potter."

Harry studied the pendant with awe. "What kind of protections?"

Timmy straightened. "Many! The pendant will shield Master from minor hexes and curses, alert you to dark magic nearby, and even help Master resist mind-affecting magic like compulsion and minor Legilimency."

Harry's eyes widened slightly. "So, it's like a permanent protective ward?"

Timmy beamed. "Yes! It also acts as a beacon for house-elves of the Potter family, should Master ever need help."

Harry was impressed. This was no ordinary heirloom—it was an essential tool for survival. He hadn't even stepped into the wizarding world properly yet, and already, he had a feeling this pendant would prove invaluable.

With great care, he lifted the pendant and slipped it around his neck. The chain adjusted itself to fit comfortably, and the magic settled against his skin like a second layer of protection.

Timmy looked immensely satisfied. "Now Master is truly the heir of the Potter family."

Harry glanced down at the pendant resting against his chest and smiled. Maybe I really am ready for whatever Hogwarts throws at me.
