Luo Chen didn't know that his diary had been copied again, and that it had fallen into Gwen's hands. All of his private thoughts were now exposed through his writings.
When Luo Chen met the heroine Gwen today, he thought he had done a good job of covering up his true feelings. He was careful not to reveal anything too personal. With his current abilities, it seemed safest to avoid these plot characters altogether.
Even though Beacon Country wasn't exactly a safe place, and New York was known to be a chaotic metropolis, safety wasn't really the issue.
Under normal circumstances, staying away from these plot characters would be the best way to avoid real danger.
Tomorrow would mark the first time he could sign in for seven days, and according to the system's rules, he could begin his first lottery draw. He was curious to see what kind of prize he would get.
Although meeting Gwen was a pleasant surprise, there were so many well-known heroines in Marvel. Gwen was just one of many, and Spider-Man wasn't limited to just one girlfriend either.
After all, every superhero had been around for decades—almost a century in some cases. With such a long history, it was no surprise that every hero had a few confidantes.
"However, if I manage to win Gwen over and prevent the tragedy between her and Peter Parker, it could save a life—and that's better than building a seven-level pagoda."
Gwen felt her face flush when she read a passage from the diary. Teacher Luo wants to chase after me?
It wasn't impossible, especially in Beacon Country, where girls often matured quickly and some had boyfriends by the time they were 15 or 16.
And, of course, he was such a handsome teacher.
Meanwhile, Luo Chen returned to his rented apartment. His original apartment had been sold and the money was put aside to buy a new place after Tony Stark was kidnapped.
What Luo Chen didn't know was that, because of this unexpected diary entry, Gwen and Tony Stark both spent the night in a state of restlessness.
After a long, sleepless night, Luo Chen woke up early and couldn't wait to write in today's diary.
"June 11th: Sunny. Another dangerous day in New York. Outside, it's the bustling New York City, but no one can imagine how dangerous it will become in the future. After Tony Stark returns from Afghanistan and declares himself Iron Man, all sorts of hidden super-criminals and superheroes will emerge like a blowout. This city is too dangerous—I want to go back to the countryside!"
Just as Luo Chen started writing in his diary, J.A.R.V.I.S. called Tony Stark directly in his mansion in New York.
"Sir, the diary has been updated."
"What? Why is the diary updated so early? How can anyone serious write in their diary in the morning? Is this person sick?" Tony Stark muttered venomously.
He had spent the entire night studying Luo Chen's diary, but didn't gain much insight from it.
Other than the later mention of his liking for Gwen and a comment about a big-breasted girl named Aomei, there wasn't much of significance.
In other words, those who had already analyzed it had done so by morning, while he had just fallen asleep in the middle of the night.
Tony hadn't slept for long before J.A.R.V.I.S. called him to read the new update.
Generally, diaries record events from the previous day, and they're usually written before bed. But Luo Chen was different—who wakes up early to write a diary?
It had to be said: sick!
Tony Stark felt tortured.
He yawned and walked to the living room, where the diary was open to the new entry.
As soon as he read it, Tony Stark's pupils contracted.
The first part of the entry was nothing new—Luo Chen had been complaining about New York being dangerous for a while, so that wasn't a surprise.
But the later part, which mentioned Tony Stark's return from Afghanistan and his announcement of becoming Iron Man, caught Tony's attention. The mention of "super-criminals" and "superheroes" emerging like a blowout piqued his curiosity.
"Super-criminals, superheroes…"
Tony immediately realized that these weren't ordinary criminals or heroes. They were likely something more significant—possibly on the same level as Captain America from World War II.
In other words, the term "superhero" had been used to describe Captain America.
But judging by Luo Chen's words, more superheroes and super-criminals would emerge in the future, and there would be so many that New York itself would become incredibly dangerous.
This realization gave Tony a sense of urgency.
"Iron Man…" Tony thought, understanding that the word referred to him—much like Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, and other characters mentioned earlier.
"I knew it! I'm the protagonist!" Tony said proudly.
Before, he had been certain that with his intelligence, he should be the protagonist. Otherwise, why would Luo Chen mention him repeatedly in the diary?
Now, with this confirmation from the diary, Tony was even more convinced that he was indeed the main character.
"Iron Man… what kind of man is he, who can manipulate steel?" Tony thought for a while and soon figured it out. The answer seemed to be: steel manipulation was the key.
This didn't exactly align with his scientific thinking, but after considering it, Tony realized there wasn't much else that made sense.
At least having abilities was better than not having any at all.
From what Luo Chen had written, it was clear that New York in the future would be a dangerous place. Even ignoring the superheroes, the super-criminals alone would be beyond the reach of ordinary people.
Tony recalled hearing about an incident in New York, where two monsters wreaked havoc. One was green, the other was black with long spikes. These creatures were so large they barely resembled humans, and they caused widespread devastation in an entire block.
Tony had heard about the incident and even accessed some military data through J.A.R.V.I.S. to learn more.
From the video footage, it was clear that these monsters were far taller than regular people. But the most disturbing part was that their skin was so thick and tough, ordinary bullets couldn't even penetrate it.
And the green monster? It was virtually indestructible. According to the analysis, its strength, speed, and endurance seemed to increase with its anger.
It was scary to think that there might be no limit to its power.
