The Black Sword

The soft click of the black case echoed through the quiet lobby. People were confused, wondering what he was doing and what was in the long case, but they didn't wait too long for an answer.

'I always thought I'd never get any use outta this beauty, but now that I can, it'll never go back in this case', in front of the puzzled crowd Ty pulled out a Jian, but this was no regular Jian.

The sword was a last gift from his father Marcus, he was an archaeologist that studied ancient civilizations. The year Ty turned 10 years old, at one of the sites that were thought to have never been inhabited by people, Marcus and his team unearth what looked like an ancient city 100 square kilometers in size thought to date back to before the Mesopotamian's.

The city looked more advanced than it should have been for its time, with 30-meter sleek walls surrounding the city made from a blue stone that we found to be bioluminescent, different buildings standing at heights thought to be impossible for their time, and even tools that shouldn't have existed yet.

While excavating, Marcus came across a rusted sword plunged into what looked like the bones of a massive creature, some even joked it was a dragon by the shape of the preserved fossils. After getting the sword cleaned and refurbished Marcus decided to give it as a gift to his little daredevil, though his wife wasn't the slightest bit happy they compromised by telling him he can't take it out the case until he learns to use it.

Since their death, Ty devoted himself to increasing his proficiency with different swords and blades, even his own body was subject to improvement. Picking up every combat sport he can handle hoping to one day wield this sword like and extension of his being as a last thank you to the people who gave him everything.

"Well, that's one hell of a sword you got there", Ken approached staring at the sword like it was the most beautiful thing he'd seen.

The sword itself was 124cm from the tip of the sword to the pommel, the blade itself was double being 91cm. Made from an unknown pitch black metal, making the sword look like its swallowing light, engravings that can't be deciphered etched into the blade, with a grip made from some type of bone wrapped in a tough leather, and no guard.

Ty didn't respond though, the moment he touched the sword he felt a strange energy coursed through his body increasing his strength.

"You have no idea", he finally responded.

"Is everyone ready, we're gonna go out and fight while you all wait till we're done, when that's finished we have to move because we don't know if it'll attract something else", he asked preparing to walk out the door for his first real battle.

Seeing the confused glances of the people Ty couldn't help but laugh, had they thought they'd just stand next to us during the battle. He shook his head then looked toward Ken and Ray, seeing them both nod, Ty took a deep breath and stepped out the door.

The moment the door closed behind him a bright flash ignited on his left, Ray's body was radiating an intense heat and brilliance, the very stone under his feet starting to slowly melt from his presence, his body barely able to be discerned through the light.

Ty was taken aback by the intensity of Ray's transformation, 'why it seem like every other power cooler than mine'. While he thought this, Ken was already finishing his transformation, his armored body and deadly claws striking fear into the onlookers.

The four wolves immediately noticed the presence of the humans and went on alert, for they could tell these ones were different from the weaker ones they've been devouring. They slowly approached the group with bared fangs, their posture was low like a coiled spring ready to unfold.

"So, what's the actual plan for fighting these things", Ken asked Ty, not intending to look away from the wolves.

Ty didn't say anything, instead he dropped his stance low and took his sword out of the sheath letting it fall, but he disappeared before it touched the ground.

*Wooosh

A gust of wind kicked up as Ty ran at full speed toward the two wolves on the right, intending on fighting the duo alone. The wolves, seeing the charging human, lunged at him at their top speed to rip him to shreds.

As Ty neared the first wolf it leaped into the air to pounce on him from above, seeing the wolf Ty waited for the moment it got close.

Before the wolf could touch him, dark grey clouds rushed from him in all directions, enveloping 5 meters of space with him as the center.

The other two wolves, seeing the phenomena, tried to help their brethren by rushing into the cloud, but before they could.

*Pow *Crack

A sound like air splitting reached the wolves but they were too late to react, Ken rushed at the lead wolf stopping just underneath it, transferring all his momentum to a devastating uppercut that connected smoothly with the wolf's jaw, sending it flying into a car that was ripped in half by the wolf's body.

The last one, frightened by the new humans tried to slowly back away from Ken only to bump into Ray who grabbed onto the wolf's tail before swinging it over his shoulder, slamming the wolf down with great ease and devastating impact.

The ground shook, cracks webbing across the asphalt with the wolf at the center, the fur on its tail starting to catch fire from Ray's grip.

*ROAR

A loud bellow snapped Ken back into the battle, for he was still processing the speed he moved at and the power he unleashed on the wolf, but clearly this wasn't enough to keep it down, so he charged back into the fray.

Within the clouds a one-sided beating was taking place. The wolf that pounced on Ty touched nothing but air as Ty sidestepped its attack, due to lack of vision the wolf couldn't follow up.

Seeing the opening he swung his sword in a wide upward arc intending on slicing its throat in one fell swoop, but a wolf is still a wolf, and like all wolves these ones don't just rely on sight.

The wolf's instincts kicked in at last moment causing it to leap away from the sword, only receiving a shallow cut on its thick hide.

Seeing the wolf's reaction speed Ty couldn't help but smile wider.

'Good, if it was that easy I would've been a lil disappointed'.
