Chapter 11

She walks slowly towards the woman who tries to be tough but her fear is written all over her. The way her fingers are nervously shaking, the way her pupils are dilated all give her away.

When she's close enough, she grabs a handful of hair and tugs really hard no it. I think I even felt a slight pain on my scalp merely from the sight. I can only imagine the pain coursing through hers. Serves her right though.

Her sharp piercing scream fills the parking lot letting me know that the pain is as much as I imagined it to be for her. A look of determination to do more damage rests on Mia's face.

She lets go of her hair and bends down for a second to remove her shoes? What? I resist the urge to laugh at the sight of me. It looks like she is trying to be comfortable enough to beat the living daylights out of the woman.

She marches towards the fool again and grabs even more hair than before because she wasn't even smart to run away when she was released earlier. Mia starts delivering slaps on her face while saying her reasons for each one.

"Never spread a rumour about a child again" A slap.

"So being so fucking racist bitch!!" Okay, language...

In as much as she deserves more colourful words than that, we can't deny that kids are here. My kid is here.

"Teach your daughter the right thing ". That's true though. It looks like her daughter is already walking in her mother's footsteps. The fault is not on the child anyways, it's what a child sees that she will emulate. Unfortunately for her, it has to be a rumour spreading bitch of a mother.

"And lastly, stop being so foolish". She lands the final slap on her already beet red face. She is going to need a whole lot of ice.

Mia throws her head away and starts walking away. Looks like the show is over then. Oh no, it isn't. Mia trips and falls.

I expect the woman to take this chance and run to her car. Once again, common sense eludes her. Instead, she starts walking towards Mia who is still on the floor. However, Mia doesn't look a tad bit concerned instead she looks really happy looking at the woman's battered face.

Unfortunately, Mia doesn't get up on time and that gives the woman the upper hand. She grabs Mia's twists and pulls hard on it. Sheesh! Rage fills up Mia's eyes and her body slightly trembles with anger. Has this woman no brains?

Mia doesn't try to free her hair from the woman's grip. Instead, she lands a punch to her gut. Yes! Finally something other than hair pulling. As I expected, the woman's grip loosens as she doubles over in pain. She kneels on the floor in pain, her hair all over the place.

Mia traps the woman's head in between her legs and starts using her hands to hit her face without serious force. If she was trying to spare her before, she's definitely out for blood this time.

"I won't spare you this time". Yeah, that's definitely my cue if I don't want to be getting someone a lawyer.

I make my way through the crowd and to the front of the scene. Mia doesn't notice my presence. I put my arms around her torso and pull her away from the woman's struggling figure.

She starts thrashing around in my arms. She starts screaming like an injured banshee. Done with her struggle, I whisper in her ear.

"I will let you go if you are ready to sleep in prison tonight". As if she recognizes my voice, she mellows down almost immediately and turns to look at me.

Her black orbs stare intently at my blue ones. She turns her gaze downwards after some seconds.

"I'm sorry. It needed to be done". When I nod in understanding, she looks up at me suprised. Her eyes hold many questions that I'm sure she might not want answers to for the sake of her job.

"Thank you". I say to her. She looks at me as realization dawns on her.

"You were here, right?". I don't respond but I know that she knows I was here. She looks embarrassed and pulls away from my arms.

"The show is over guys. The children are going to be late for their classes". I yell at the crowd that is still standing there. I must admit these people have very misplaced priorities.

"Your hand is bleeding". I look down to see Lily beside us. I suddenly remember that she has been left alone since and I didn't even check up on her when I reached the front of the crowd. Although I feel assured because I have men all over the place keeping an eye on her. She has Mia's handbag with her. Mia collects it from her and bend down to her height.

"I'm sorry I left you all alone. Thank you love". She gives her a smile. She gives Mia a peck on her cheek and runs inside the school leaving me shocked. I see a look of surprise on Mia's face. Well, that makes the two of us. She subconsciously touches her cheek and smiles. How did my daughter change overnight?

"Let's get that checked out". I draw her attention to the gash on her hand.

"No need. I'll just clean it up and use a plaster or something". She can't be serious. With the amount of blood that's coming out if that injury? But it's her hand anyways, not my business.

"Ok if you are sure. Let's go to the car. We can go home to clean it up". She nods in response. Mia pauses in her tracks and looks back at where she was earlier. I look back at where she was before and the woman is just standing up with her daughter beside her. She tells me to hold on and walks up to them and stands in front of the woman.

"Should I call a cab to take you to the hospital? I doubt you can drive and you look horrible too. Don't worry my dirty salary can pay for the cab". It's either she's too angry or too shocked to speak because she doesn't even retort. Mia's lips downturn in a disappointed way. She shakes her head and heads back to where I am.

She calls a cab and I wait with her until it gets to the parking lot before leaving. She sits in the passenger seat while I drives. As she sits, she occasionally runs on her hands on the leather seat seeming fascinated by it.

"Remind me not to be your enemy". He face snaps to me immediately as if surprised that I spoke to her.

"Huh?". She raises a questioning brow to me. I look at her confused expression and do what I have not done in years. He chuckle. The low bass sound fills up the car and brings a huge smile to her face.

My phone pings and I take a look at it while keeping my eyes on the road.

"I have information on her". It's a text from Elvis. Just what I needed to hear. Time to get to work.
