James' POV
"Okay, Dad, let's do it," I said with confidence.
"You are not going to object or say anything else?" He asked, looking surprised.
"No, I like the idea and would wish to continue," I replied.
"Wow, I never thought you would be serious about this." He said, which took me by surprise.
"What do you mean Dad?" I asked seeking clarity.
"You know, back at that dinner when you proposed to Evelyn, I thought it was just part of your plan to buy time." He spoke, the truth is, he was right.
At that time, I was planning on buying time so that I could get back to Ellie, but since that didn't work, I had to stick with her.
But I wasn't going to tell My father that. I would just use a white lie to wriggle myself out of this.
"No, Dad, I was dead serious," I said, and my confidence hadn't moved a bit.
"It's good to know that you are finally getting a hold of yourself, son." He complimented.
