Nathan's POV
After being with Evelyn, I realized I made a very big mistake. I wouldn't say I hadn't missed her — because I did, deeply.
But I regretted it. I regretted letting her get under my skin again. She was my weakness.
Isabella had warned me. "She'll undo you, Nathan. She's always been your weakness." Those were her exact words.
But I had brushed it off. Seven years had passed. Seven years without seeing Evelyn, without hearing her voice, without touching her.
If I had survived that long, surely I could resist her now.
Or so I thought.
Evelyn knew exactly how to get to me. She always did. She challenged me in ways no one else could.
And she hit my pride last night, talking about my kissing.
Damn it.
I clenched the steering wheel, my knuckles turning white as the memory of her soft lips haunted me.
I had told myself that staying away from her was necessary. Our mission came first. There was too much at stake to get tangled up in old feelings.
