Evelyn's POV
I still couldn't wrap my head around why my father had invited Nathan over.
Why would he?
I replayed the moment he told me three days ago, over and over, trying to make sense of it, but nothing about it felt right.
Sure, Nathan was once a warrior for our pack—the best, in fact. He'd earned that title through blood, sweat, and sheer determination.
But that was years ago. When we all thought he died fighting for our pack.
What could possibly warrant this sudden dinner invitation now?
I paced my room, my thoughts were just scattered and out of control.
Could my father know? Did he somehow find out about what happened between Nathan and me seven years ago?
No, that didn't make sense. Seven years was a long time, and there was no way he'd just be learning about it now.
Unless... my stomach churned at the thought. Unless he'd found out about what happened the night of my engagement ceremony.
