CHAPTER 54 Something Is Going On

  Evelyn's POV

Ava had been insistent, her voice ringing in my ears even as my heart warred against her advice.

"You need to check on him, Evelyn," she'd said. And maybe she was right this time. But still, I hesitated.

Everywhere she had led me to, always ended up hurting me so I really didn't want to go in to check up on Nathan.

  It wasn't that I didn't care—of course, I did—but the risk felt too great.

Under my father's roof, I didn't want him to suspect anything. Invite him over for dinner was already weird enough.

If he caught wind of anything between Nathan and me, it wouldn't just be hell; it'd be a storm I wasn't prepared to weather.

Yet, I found myself moving. Ava's words pushed me forward, down the hall, through the dining area.

There was an hallway that led to the guest room through the dining so I had to go back there.

A small sigh escaped my lips when I saw that my father had already left. "Perfect," I whispered.
