CHAPTER 55 I Am The Key

  Evelyn's POV

Nathan slammed the door so fast that I barely had time to pull back. If I hadn't stepped away at the last second, the door would've smacked me square in the nose.

For a moment, I just stood there, stunned, my hand frozen mid-air where it had been reaching for him.

It wasn't like Nathan. Not the Nathan I knew, at least. He had always been a gentleman—the kind of man who treated everyone, especially women, with care and respect.

To see him like this, flinging a maid out of the room as if she meant nothing and then almost slamming the door in my face, was surprising.

I let go of the maid's arm unconsciously.

My head was spinning. What had she done to provoke him like that? What could've happened in that room to make him lose his temper so completely?

I turned to her again. "What the hell did you do? What did you do to make him this upset? What happened in there?"
