CHAPTER 35 Meeting The Alpha

  Avery's POV

  The world swayed around me as I stumbled forward, barely supported by the guards flanking me. My wrists burned from the coarse rope binding them, and my head throbbed and my body trembled violently.

  Every muscle in my body ached, and it took all my focus not to collapse again.

  I was vaguely aware of the murmured voices around me, the footsteps echoing off stone walls, and the faint scent of damp earth. Wherever I was, it was cold, dim, and unwelcoming. My wolf's absence made me feel like I was drowning in a void.

  It wasn't just the loss of her strength or guidance, it was the suffocating isolation, the sense that I was incomplete and powerless without her. But I had been fine without her all these months, just that I really needed her now.

  "Move," one of the guards growled, shoving me forward.
