Victoria's POV
Dominic's question echoed in my head long after he asked it. Am I smiling because I had fun on my date with Ethan? And why had I been with Ethan? The idea was absurd, but before I could defend myself or explain, I felt myself being swept up in something far beyond words.
Dominic didn't give me a chance to respond. He stood tall, his frame casting a shadow over me as he leaned down and, with one smooth motion, lifted me again. My breath hitched as he carried me the few steps from the edge of the couch to settle me more comfortably in the middle.
"Dominic," I started, my voice weak, the words caught somewhere between confusion and protest.
But before I could say more, he leaned in, his face mere inches from mine. His dark, stormy eyes bore into me, the weight of his emotions palpable. And then, without warning, his lips captured mine.
