Griffin's POV
"Now, it's time to get my plan in motion!" I happily said to myself as I came off the main road and into the street where my girlfriend lived. I could not believe that she would not let me stay the night after Ethan's birthday but today was a new day and I was up bright and early to see them both.
I pulled into Evelyn's house's driveway, the crunch of gravel beneath my tyres the only sound breaking the silence. The darkness swallowed the house whole, the windows like empty eyes staring back at me. I had a bad feeling, a nagging sense that something was off. The lights were all out, and the usual warm glow of the porch lamp was extinguished. Even Ethan, my rambunctious little bundle of energy, did not bound out to greet me. It felt weird not to have my usual welcoming, but I decided not to be too concerned yet. They could be still in bed asleep; it had been a hectic long day yesterday.
