Evelyn's POV
I took a deep breath and fought back the tears as I walked away from Nolan. I didn't want him to see me upset, and I certainly didn't want to continue conversing with him now. If he followed me, I worried he would see Ethan and ask me questions where I couldn't deny him being the father of my beloved son.
I walked a little more down the path until I was sure nobody was around; I perched myself on the edge of a worn wooden bench.
Five whole years had passed since that day when Nolan had chosen another female over me, and the pain still haunted me even after all that time. I recalled how escorted I had been to wake up on my eighteenth birthday to confirm that Nolan was indeed my fated mate. I had quietly thanked the moon goddess for answering my prayers.
