CHAPTER 34: Ethan Has A Fever

  Nolan's POV

I shifted my gaze towards Angela, finding it challenging to grapple with the sight of her up and about. How could someone who I recalled knocking on death's door look so healthy? What had happened to her?

But there was no time for questions.

"Get those wet clothes off of my grandson. He has a fever." Angela took charge as I tried to console a hysterical Evelyn. She seemed to calm slightly in my arms, and I could feel the way her heartbeat slowed down.

"Fetch me some blankets and towels, Simon," Angela ordered, and my beta immediately jumped. Seconds later, he rushed back in, loaded with blankets and towels.

"He needs you to be strong right now, Evelyn. I know you're scared, but this won't do him any good." She turned towards my mate and said firmly. And she was right. Evelyn did need to be strong, but she was his mother, after all. I understood her pain and worry for our son, but as alpha, I had to show strength and be the rock for everyone else.
