CHAPTER 82 Do Better

  KAT

The doctor shakes his head as he cleans the wound on the side of Abigale's face. "This is going to scar," he sighs.

"There is nothing you can do?" I ask him. "Won't her wolf heal her?"

The doctor sets down the gauze and guides me to the corner of the room. I look over my shoulder at Abigale, but she is enthralled by a cartoon that is playing on the television. The doctor touches my shoulder gently, pulling my attention away from Abigale.

"I have to report this," he whispers.

"Report it to who?" I gasp.

"To the Alpha," he replies. "Our communities are not unlike your own. When a child is being neglected or abused, we separate them from their parents."

I begin to shake with fear. "You can't do that," I try to keep my voice low. "She just lost her mother. You cannot separate her from her father as well. Hector is grieving, but I am sure he will pull it together soon."
