　　All the wind has been knocked out of me, and I can feel my jaw hanging on the floor. I can't believe the bomb that Dad just dropped on me.


　　"How could you know that? How could you be so calm about it?" I exclaim.


　　Dad sinks back further into the armchair he is occupying. "Honestly, I don't know it for sure. I have just suspected. She claims to have met him at an alpha summit we attended about eight years ago. One day, she suggested an alliance between our two packs, even though we have a better pack rank and resources."


　　Dad begins rubbing his temples as he lays out his suspicions. "She explained how a union between our packs would provide more expendable warriors, rather than utilizing our own. I know it sounds terrible, but I couldn't help but to agree.
