CHAPTER 41

  Alec's POV

The late afternoon sun filtered through the trees surrounding the pack house, casting dappled shadows on the ground. Inside, the air was thick with tension as I paced the living room, my mind racing. I could hear Elena's footsteps approaching, her voice determined, filled with the urgency of someone who felt they had something to prove.

"Alec!" she called out, entering the room with fire in her eyes. "You can't just decide this for me. I'm coming with you and Selena. You know I can handle myself."

I stopped mid-pace, turning to face her. "Elena, please. You don't understand how dangerous this could be. If Kane is alive, we have no idea what kind of situation we're walking into. I can't put you in that kind of danger."
