Elena's POV
I apply the thick salve to Alec's wound on his back, craning my neck to see if he's in any pain. When he leans in and steals a kiss I feel the crimson blush creep into my cheeks.
"This gash is pretty deep, I hope you beheaded the rogue that did this," I say as I reach for the gauze and then wrap the bandage around his right shoulder and pec.
"That one was curtesy Drax, their leader," Alec responded, as he stood and rotated his arm slowly.
"Why did you let him live? I thought the plan was to stop their leader to stop their attacks on the people?" I asked as I packed up the first aid kit and walked over to the overhead cabinet to put it back in place.
Alec's large, warm arms wrapped themselves around me from behind as he angled his face into the crook of my neck, breathing in deeply.
"There's something I haven't told you. Something he said that made me realize that what transpired with the attack on the village was a means to another end."
