CHAPTER 16

  Christopher's POV

I watched as Olivia fumbled with her seatbelt, her fingers trembling slightly. Was it nerves? Excitement? Or something else entirely? I smirked at her obviously flustered state.

"Thanks again for giving me this chance," she blurted out, her eyes wide and earnest. "I promise I won't let you down."

"What did I just say about thanking me? This isn't a charity case. You got the role because you earned it. End of story."

She nodded, biting her lip distractingly. "Right, of course. It's just... I feel like I should be doing something to celebrate, you know?"

"Celebrate? Oh, my dear, sweet, naive Olivia. Let me give you a piece of advice that might save your pretty little ass in this cutthroat industry."

I leaned in, whispering conspiratorially. "Don't get too excited. Not yet. Hell, not ever. In this business - film, TV, music, whatever - one wrong step can destroy your entire career in the blink of an eye."
