CHAPTER 99 A Rival is Drawing Closer

  I stood there, frozen, watching another woman hug my husband right in front of me. To be more precise, she was just a girl.

  Natalie glanced between them and me, clearly confused about the situation.

  Lucas calmly pulled her a little farther away, then asked, "When did you get to South City?"

  The girl, still draped over him like a playful kitten, smiled brightly and chirped, "Surprised? I told you I'd give you a big surprise. I was planning to pop up out of nowhere and scare you, but I didn't expect to see you here."

  Her voice was cheerful, youthful, and carried that vibrant energy of youth.

  I suddenly recalled the message from Nancy—could this be the same girl who texted me? Did she also go by Nancy? Or was there a connection between them?

  Maybe it was just my mind racing, but I honestly felt like she resembled Nancy a little.

  "Hey, your wife is right here. Isn't it a bit inappropriate to hug someone else's husband like that?" Natalie said bluntly.
