I looked at him, a multitude of questions piling up in my heart. They swirled around in my throat for a while, but in the end, I didn't know where to begin.
I shifted my gaze and explained, "I couldn't get through to you on the phone, I was really worried. Salvatore said he knew where you were, so I followed him here."
Lucas stared ahead, and after a brief silence, he spoke, "When you enter the underground casino, turning off your phone is the rule."
I told him about the results of the court hearing today, to which he casually replied, "I know."
I had no idea how he knew about it while he was in the hidden underground level.
I exhaled, and finally, I asked, "Is it really just one million that you promised Salvatore?"
Lucas pulled out a cigarette from his pack, lit it, and held it out the window. The smoke blew out in the wind.
"Why? What's wrong with that?" he said nonchalantly.
