  Yosef nodded, "He's Lucas."

I froze, staring at Yosef in disbelief.

But after a moment, I realized it made sense. Given how big GHI had become, it wasn't unusual for Yosef to know him. Yet, just as I was processing that, I heard Yosef add, "He's James's eldest son."

That was when it clicked. James—the man who had stolen his wife, his bitter rival. It made sense that Yosef would know him, and by extension, it made sense that he would know his son.

"Kate, don't be too tense. Just because he's James's son doesn't mean I hold any grudges against him. Just like I don't hate Xander because he's James's son either."

I believed him. Back when I was a student, Yosef had always struck me as a man of integrity—kind, honest, and fair.
