Aria's POV
Knox paused for a moment, then he ran a hand through his hair as he released a sigh. "I didn't think it mattered." He said quietly, staring at the floor.
I lifted an eyebrow in disbelief at him. "You didn't think it mattered?" I asked incredulously, "You almost marked her, Knox!"
Knox nodded slowly, lifting his eyes to meet mine. "Yes, I almost did. And it wasn't because I had any feelings for her. Even when we were... a thing. I only cared for her like a friend."
"I lost hope of ever finding a mate, and I knew that I needed a Luna. So I decided to go with someone that I could tolerate. Someone that was close. Who better than my friend, who was the sister of my beta?" He added, keeping his eyes on mine.
The pain in my chest twinged slightly, but I ignored it. "That still doesn't justify the reason why you kept it from me." I said quietly, folding my arms.
Knox nodded again. "Maybe."
