Chapter 6

"Why are you hanging out with Rex. You know he is bad luck, guys like him are usually bad luck." Marie asked with a frown.

Marie and Max came back today. And Rex walked her to school from home as usual. Marie caught sight of them when she got to school that day.

"Marie stop it please. He is not as bad as people potray him. He is a nice guy."

"How do you know he is not a bad guy."

"He saved my life."

"So, is thank you not enough, do you have to be friends with him." Marie yelled at her.

"Why? Are you jealous because he is friends with me and not you. Who knows what would have happened to me if he wasnt there. You guys werent there for me either. I would have been dead by now." She yelled back at her.

"You know the reason why we werent there. You know that."

"Yes I do, and i dont blame any of you for this."

"Is that so? If you so value your relationship with him then you have to stop being friends with us. Max lets go!" she said dragging Max along with her. Max gave Fiona a pity look before walking away with Marie. He had been silent and didnt say anything to counter what Marie said. So she just lost her friends. She was the one who was suppose to be angrt not the other way around. Marie who always taught her not to judge a book by its cover. It was a suprise she was actually cutting ties with her because she was friends with a delinquent who was rumoned to have caused a lot of trouble for those close to him. She wasnt able to consertrate in class that day, it was weird losing a friend just like that expecially her childhood friend. She had been friends with Max and Marie since elementry school. They had been through a lot but why now. She thought as a tear rolled down her cheek.

"Dont tell me he broke your heart."

She looked up and she saw Jason looking at her with a smirk on his face.

"Who?" She asked with a frown.

"Who else if not Rex. I saw you talking with him yesterday and this morning."

"Just because im close to him or just because we are friends doesnt make us lovers."

"oh.. So you are even friends with him."

"Yea. Hope you wont start telling me about gow bad he is or how i should avoid him."

Jason smiled sheepishly. "I wasnt planning to do that."

Fiona sigh heavily as She looked at her side.

"What was the cause of your tears then."

"Why do you care anyway, its not like we are that close." She smiled painfully as She tried to stopped the tears from flowing. They jilted me because im friends with Rex. Rex isnt that bad."

"Just because he doesn't seem bad to you that doesn't mean he isn't bad. Think about it, isn't it better to chose a long relationship you have spent almost all your life to build than a relationship of few days?"

"Dont worry about me, I would let them see reasons why I said he isn't bad. And besides, he saved my life."

"How did he save your life? Never mind, suit yourself." he said and walked away.

Rex walked over immediately" he said looking at the enterance of the class where Jason went through.

"What's wrong?" he asked looking at her with a worried face.

"Nothing really, just had a fight with my bestfriend." she said with a sigh.

"You know agreement sometimes occur between friends. Don't take it to heart."

"Thanks." she said as she left for Marie's class.

When she got there, she saw only Max.

"Fiona." Max called out to her when he saw her.

"What's wrong with her?" Fiona asked as she sat on a seat close to him.

"Dont take what she said to heart, a lot happened to her and she still can't grasp it. Just give her sometime."

"I know, but what really happened?"

"Her mom is dead."

Fiona was shocked, "Dead, how? They spoke a week before she traveled right?"

"Yea. She was killed by her husband. And Marie blame herself for her mom's death. To her, she would have been able to save her if she had gone earlier. She sees your case as same. Her step dad was nice and seemed caring, who would have thought he was going to kill her."

"But that's different from mine, we are not even dating yet."

"Yet? So you have a thing for him?"

"Its not like that…"

"Don't worry, she would come around. Just give her time. I think she is still morning her only family. Till then. I'm going to look for her. He said as he got up from his seat and left the class.

"Hey you know prom is coming soon, who are you gonna pick as your partner ." Jason asked immediately she entered the class.

Every one were free to do whatever they want because the chemistry teacher wasn't in school due to some personal issues.

She sat on her sit sluggishly when she realised Jason was sitting on the sit close to her.

"Thats not your seat, is it?"

"Just answer me, okay."

Fiona breathed loudly as she looked at him. "Why do you ask anyway, not like you really care."

"Maybe because I want you to pick me. What am I saying or I should pick you instead." He said with a smirk.

"Why should I, you know there are a lot of guy I can pick from."

"Really, or you are expecting Rex to pick you right." Jason said looking towards Rex's direction.

"Oh please." she said and rolled her eyes.

"Can you stop this, i'm really not in the mood for that now." She said and rested her head on the table. She was too tired. what she was experiencing was too much for one person to handle and knowing the fact that her friends were not really there for her pissed her off. She knew they were having tough time but what about her? why can't they think about her too, why can't anyone see her pain, she has emotions too. She thought as tears rolled down her eyes.

After the last class for that day, she decided to find a quiet place to stay.

She needed to think. She didn't want to go home now because she knew she would be tempted to ask her mom the questions bothering her and she won't get any answer. She walked to the orchard behind the school and sat on a long bench. Maybe she was the one doing herself. Is it so bad for her to get curious about things concerning her. Sometimes she deals like she don't even know who she is anymore.

"Hy" Rex said as he walked over to her. His hands were in his pocket and he walked casually to her seat. Assuming she hadn't fallen for him, she would have done so now, she thought and laughed a little.

"Is there anything funny on me." He asked with a smirk folding his hands.

"ye….I mean no, o wasn't laughing at you." she said giving him a broad smile.

He was the only guy who had gotten her smitten like this.

She sighed and patted the seat close to her indicating he should sit there.

"Why are you here all by yourself. You know you should be home by now. Remember what happened last time." He said as he sat down.
