The next day, her mom was happy. She had always celebrated her mom's birthday. She was tempted to ask her mom a lot of questions but she held herself. She didn't want to spoil the day. She was able to mask her feelings. That day, she came in contact with Rex when she went to buy groceries that evening, they talked and gist for a long time and he even walked her home. He wasn't as bad as he seems
or how people portrayed him.
"You know I owe you my life." Fiona said as he walked her home that day. "How can i repay you."
"When the time comes, you will know." he said with a smirk.
"Umm?"
"Never mind, was just kidding."
As they kept walking, his fight with those men came to her memory.
"Who taught you to use konfu?" she asked looking at his face.
"My dad."
"You must be really close to him."
"You think so?" he asked looking at her.
"yea."
"My dad, he trained me for his revenge." he said with a pained expression.
She wanted to ask more questions but she kept quiet.
"You don't want to know why? Who and why he planned to revenge?"
"Is it necessary?"
"He was betrayed by his own brother."
"So do you plan on carrying out his revenge for him?" she asked as they got to her house.
"What do you think?"
"You know, his grudge is his not yours. So it should be right if he settles it himself."
Rex smiled as he startehe
alking backward. "You should go inside now, see you tomorrow." he said as he walked away. She thought about what he said as she walked into her room. She didn't know why her heart skipped a bit when he talked about revenge. If what those men said was true, would she want to revenge for her dad? She didn't know neither does she knows why her mom was keeping her in the dark. She took her note pad and began to draw. Tomorrow was a long day ahead.
After drawing for a while, her mind began to drift to her encounter with those men. Why was he looking at this, she thought touching the necklace and frowned when she felt something. Before she knee it, it opened up and her eyes widen.
So it was a locket afterall, she thought. She removed the cover and saw the image of a wolf on the other part.
She frowned as she looked at it. What is this she thought. Some would think it to be a normal design but it felt strange to her. It felt like she was one with it. What's all this mysteries? The more she tries to get answers the more she becomes confuse and the more questions she gets.
The next day, she went to school together with Rex. It caused an uproar in school especially among the girls. Especially those that have been trying to make him notice them.
"Hey, I never knew you were close to Rex." Jason asked as he sat on an empty seat in front of her.
"Well, he saved my life."
Jason raised an eye brow.
"You don't need to understand and I can't explain anyway. We aren't even friends."
Not that. I'm just concerned that you decided to defy my warnings."
"About what?" she asked with a frown and immediately realized what he meant. "He isn't that bad as you think."
"Really?"
"Yea." she replied with a small smile.
"Seems like his handsome face made you fall head over heels for him."
"That's not it, we are just friends." she said as a blush.
Rex walked in immediately and winked at her before walking to his seat. This didn't go unnoticed by the class.
"You know some girls are gonna claw at you for that."
"Can you leave please, I need to read. You know exams are fast approaching." she said as she brought out her book.
"Do I have to read to pass?" he asked with a smirk.
Jason and Rex were one of the best students in school. Rex was always the first while Jason—second. There was one girl named Clara who was the third best student.
"Yea. Won't it be nice to work hard to best Rex this time around." she said mockingly.
"Oh please, that's something I can't achieve." he said with a small smile. "My birthday is in a week time."
"So?"
"You just hurt my feelings." he said holding his chest.
She laughed loud in amusement.
"So you will clock 18 right?"
"How do you know?" he asked with a fake surprise.
"I just guessed," she said and they laughed together.
"Can i ask you a question?"
"Feel free, i will answer if i can." Jason said d with a smile.
"Do you know anything about wolves? i mean werewolves."
Jason smiled frozen immediately. "Why asking all of a sudden. When did you become a fan of fantasy books" He asked still maintaining a frown.
Fiona sighed as she looked at him.
Its for my book dummy, don't you know i write.
I just wanted to write something about supernatural creatures." Fiona said and chuckled.
'That was a close one.' She thought releasing her breath. For a sec she thought she saw his eyes change colour.
