Mia didn't respond to her son's words. Instead, she just knelt down beside him and put his head on her lap.
"You should rest for now, my dear. Once you've recovered some strength, then we can worry about our next step, okay?" She whispered lovingly as she caressed his cheek.
Oliver nodded and closed his eyes as he relaxed his body. After a short while, his breathing became normal, and his body began to recover from its intense exertion earlier.
Mia also calmed down as Oliver was safe by her side.
It was then she felt something odd. She wasn't sure what it was, but she felt like some kind of attraction force from within the cave.
She tried her best to ignore the feeling. However, it didn't feel malicious, and she ended up slowly raising her hand, reaching in the direction of where it felt like it was coming from.
As if pulling something invisible towards her, Mia focused on that sensation with all her being.
It felt as if she was trying to grab hold of a cloud of invisible smoke that drifted towards her fingertips.
All of a sudden, a bright light appeared from the cave, and Mia immediately shut her eyes close to block out the glare. When she opened them again, she saw a floating orb hovering over the palm of her hand.
She gasped in amazement upon witnessing such an unbelievable sight before her.
"What... is this?" She gasped in surprise and wondered why she had never felt such a sensation from within her before.
Then, as if something clicked inside her, Mia understood what that orb was.
"Is this for real? This came from the goblin I killed? The life force... of a goblin?! What kind of healing power is this?!" Mia's thoughts rushed in a jumbled mess as she continued to stare in bewilderment at the glowing orb on the palm of her hand.
Then she looked down at her exhausted son. Without hesitation, she pressed the orb into Oliver's body, letting the life energy flow into his being.
This orb that contained the life force of a dead goblin flowed into Oliver, and within seconds, he felt as if he regained some of his strength again.
Soon, Oliver opened his eyes and saw his mother looking at him with a worried expression written all over her face.
"How are you feeling, dear? Do you think you can move now?"
"Huh? Yes... I should be able to..."
"Good, good. Let's leave this place. There might be more monsters around," Mia urged, pulling her son to his feet. She still didn't know what to make of her new ability, but it wasn't something to be concerned about for now. What mattered most was the safety of both of them, and so she had to focus on escaping first.
Oliver nodded in response, and he stood up before dusting himself off from any dirt stuck to his clothes.
The two looked at the scenery in front of them, and they saw tall trees with lush vegetation in all directions, and the scent of nature filled their nostrils.
It looked like the day was coming to an end too because the sun's light seemed to be dimming out already.
"It's almost night," Mia remarked, her lips turning into a frown. She knew very well that if they didn't find somewhere safe, there could be worse threats than goblins out there that would make it dangerous to move around.
Oliver agreed with his mother's opinion and scanned the surroundings. He wanted to find a good place to hide and spend the night in.
While searching around, he spotted a small mountain not too far away. He pointed at it and suggested, "Hey, look at that over there! We could try going there! It would be better than staying in the forest at night."
Mia looked to where her son was pointing at and noticed the mountain not too far away. Although the scenery reminded her of where she and Oliver went hiking once before, she knew it wasn't the same world.
Still, it did look like it could help them avoid threats while resting, so she agreed. "Okay, let's go there and see if there are any caves nearby."
The two started walking towards the mountain together as night began to fall upon the land.
As before, Oliver once again activated his invisible skill to scout the area ahead of them before he allowed his mother to follow after him.
When he neared the foot of the mountain, he heard sounds of water rushing by and quickly located a spring.
After verifying that there were no monsters or danger nearby, Oliver returned to Mia and guided her towards the spot where he found the spring.
"There's a source of water here, Mom."
"Oh? That's great! I was worried we wouldn't be able to get any water to drink," Mia commented as she approached the spring. "There must be animals and creatures that live near the source of the water, so we have to be careful. We don't know what lurks around these parts."
"I know. Still, I wanted to get you some fresh water to drink. You must be thirsty," Oliver said and kneeled to fill a wooden mug he brought with him before handing it over to his mother.
Mia couldn't help but smile at how thoughtful Oliver could be sometimes; sometimes he acted more like the older one than she did.
She took the mug and drank a gulp of the cold water inside. It tasted much better than their own world, and it instantly refreshed her senses.
After that the two continued to walk toward the mountain. They went up a gentle slope and then began to search for a cave where they could camp for the night.
Luck was with them; it didn't take long to find an abandoned cave, its entrance covered with tall grass and overgrown foliage. It looked like there hadn't been any signs of animals living inside for quite some time.
