Rise And Shine, Chucklenuts

You left the VW, entered the bathroom, and got dressed. Same outfit as usual. Red flannel shirt, black hoodie, blue jeans, red beanie, chain, jean vest, black shoes with white stripes, and the latest addition: the Y and N sunglasses.

You checked your pocket. Yup, there were some paperclips. You looked at a small bag that held your spray paint cans. White, black, and blue. Those were really all the colors you used.

You wondered when the second evil ex fight would be. In case you had to step in, because Scott should really be the one to handle this. But, he'd probably call you for backup anyway. Maybe you'd talk to Matthew later and see what's up.

Whatever this day had in store, you had to be prepared for.

- 11:45 am, at the bus -

"It's almost nice out." Wallace noted as he read the newspaper. On the cover, you could see Lucas Lee, the movie star. And in the back, you could see the quote "Not enough people are buying BEER," which made you say "hah, that's a fuckin' lie," under your breath.

"Yeah, I mean, it's about time. It's what, April something?" Scott asked, turning to you.

"I think? Hard to tell time around here." You shrugged.

"It's April something, yes. Hey, Lucas Lee is filming a new movie." Wallace mentioned.

"Why do you care? Is he hot?" Scott asked, making Wallace roll his eyes.

"...Do you think he's hot?" You asked Scott, and he hit you lightly on the arm. "Sheesh, sorry. I'm not judging."

"Was he in that thing 'bottle rocket'?" Scott inquired.

"No, that was Luke Wilson. No comment on the hotness." Wallace answered, turning the page.

"Isn't Luke Wilson a guy from that band I played a show with last week?" Scott asked again.

"Can we talk about something else?" Wallace pleaded, about done with the questions.

"Well... Scott, what are you planning with Ramona? Y'know, keep the relationship strong and such." You asked, adding a suggestion for good measure.

"Oh, yeah, I'm inviting Ramona over for dinner in a couple days or whatever, so Wallace can finally meet her and stuff." Scott responded, nodding.

"I already met her, actually." Wallace chimed in.

"I do remember Stacey mentioned she introduced Ramona to him at the Rockit." You noted.

"My show?! My show with Lucas Lee?!" Scott questioned, eyes wide.

"Luke Wilson." You corrected.

"Whatever! Why does my sister know Ramona?!" Scott continued, very much pissed.

"Damn, what gives, man?" You questioned. "Why does it matter?"

"Look, Scott. I'm going to issue an ultimatum." Wallace stated, staring dead into Scott's eyes.

"One of your famous ultimatums?" Scott sarcastically questioned.

"It may live in infamy, but-" Wallace started, but paused when he saw you shiver. "You good?"

"Y-yeah. It's just that word, 'infamy'... I dunno why, but it gives me chills." You responded, looking away.

"Anyway, here is my ultimatum." Wallace continued, turning to Scott. "You have to tell your girlfriend about Knives. Tonight. You have to. Okay?"

"But... but... it's hard!" Scott complained, whining.

"Hey, you could have it harder had it not been because Y/N spoke up about your crush on Ramona." Wallace said, and looked at you. "Thanks for doing that, by the way."

"I didn't want Knives to figure it out herself. It would've escalated the situation more." You replied, smiling. "I softened the fall as much as I could."

"We don't deserve you, really." Wallace patted your back, and turned to Scott again. "Scott, if you don't tell Ramona all about Knives, then I will. First thing when she walks through the door. I swear to God, Scott."

"But you... you're... double standard! These are lies! Dirty ones!" Scott accused, frustrated.

"Oh, and I'm having a friend over tonight, so neither of you come home." Wallace stated, standing up to leave the bus.

"You got it." You said as you gave a thumbs up. Scott, on the other hand...

"Wait! What?! We are home! This is our stop!" He complained, pointing out the window.

"See you tomorrow, you two." Wallace simply replied, and left.

"You suck, surprising no-one!" Scott screamed out the window, along with, "If bad was a boot, you'd fit it! You're a stupid poo-poo head! I had sexual relations with your mother! Your mother was not that good in bed! You, sir, are a wretched soul!" There was another insult, but you tuned him out by then.

- At the payphone -

"Why do I have to be the one to talk with her, again?" You asked Scott as you dialed Knives' number.

"I just don't want to." Scott pouted, and you rolled your eyes. "Also, I don't want to spend a quarter on the call. Just use your phone."

"Are things really that bad?" You questioned, but before Scott could reply, you answered with. "Oh yeah, your $504.28 debt at No-Account Video."

"Shut up." Scott mumbled.

You sighed as you dialed Knives' number, and the call was answered. "Yo, Knives. Are you done with school? Do you wanna hang out with me and Scott?"

"Sure! Are you two home?" Knives asked excitedly.

"Nah, we're at Bloor and Bathurst. Close to the payphone." You replied.

"Bloor and Bathurst... Sooo, what are you wearing?" Knives asked, and you raised an eyebrow at the question.

"What I usually wear, not really much changes with the outfit. Just a few adjustments. Why?" You responded, and Scott looked confused at the question.

"Uh-huh. And is Scott wearing, um, a tan jacket? Like a spring jacket? And a hoodie?" Knives inquired, and that made you pause as you looked at Scott. And sure enough, he was wearing all those things.

"Yeah. And a dorky hat." You answered, and Scott glared at you.

"It's not dorky!" He argued, crossing his arms as you giggled at his reaction.

"Also, how the heck did you know what Scott was wearing? Are you psychic? You're really scaring me here, Knives." You joked, laughing a bit.

"I'm right here!" Knives' voice popped from your right, as you found her standing right next to you out of the blue.

"Woah!" You yelped, jumping back a bit and almost dropping your phone. You and Knives laughed at your lack of awareness, and you put your phone away.

"Sorry, Wyenn." Knives apologized, still giggling a bit.

"It's okay, Knives. Just a bit spooked." You assured, putting your hands in your pockets. "So, shall we get going?"

- At the music store -

You, Knives, and Scott were browsing the music shop. You three were browsing the pop/rock section, which actually took up a good chunk of the whole shop.

"Ooh, I need this! I can't believe someone sold it!" Knives said as she grabbed one of the CDs.

"What is it?" Scott asked, curious.

"I love this band so much! Have you heard them? They're like... so deep!" Knives explained, holding a "Clash at Demonhead" CD.

"Oh, them! Yeah, they're great. Really good." You commented, and nodded.

"They're from Montereal, I think. They're playing here soon, I can't wait!" Knives said, clearly intending to go.

"Yeah, they're okay." Scott shrugged, and his tone was a bit sour, and you knew why.

"Get over it, Scott. She probably forgot you. You forget her, too." You whispered to him.

"Did that gossipy bitch Wallace tell you about me and her?" Scott whisper-shouted to you.

"Yes. Yes he did." You replied in monotone.

"God damn it." Scott muttered, gritting his teeth.

"Oh, Wyenn! Um... I wanted to invite you over for some dinner sometime." Knives said, and her tone was shy. "You know, to meet my parents..."

"Uh... Sure, what for?" You enthusiastically, yet cautiously, asked.

"Well, you're just so... friendly and kind. My parents would like you." Knives explained, and her eyes were practically shining with stars.

"Oh. Thanks, Knives." You smiled a bit. "I'd love to. When's a good day?"

"Anytime is a good time. If you're not busy, of course." Knives added.

"You're trying to get Y/N to go on a date with you?" Scott suddenly spoke, and that made Knives jump a bit.

"Scott, what the fuck?!" You yelled at him, actually shocked. "I'm not dating a high schooler! We have a big age difference! I will kick your ass if you keep that up, man."

"Hey, I'm just saying. Don't need to bite my head off." Scott held his hands up defensively.

"Wyenn, I swear it's not a date! Honest." Knives explained herself. "It's just dinner. It doesn't have to mean anything."

"You heard her. Now let's drop the topic." You commanded, and Scott kept quiet.

- Later at night, in Stephen's house -

"Where's Knives? Not coming tonight?" Stephen asked as he set up his guitar.

"Oh, she's coming later. I think she's trying to see if her parents would let me come over for dinner some day." You replied, shrugging. "Which, before you ask... no, this is not the start of a date."

Everyone felt the intensity of the stare you gave Scott, who was sitting on the floor. He didn't meet your eyes, and focused on his bass guitar, not daring to turn around and face you.

"Who cares? Maybe you'll meet my new girlfriend soon!" Scott diverted the topic. "Oh, check it out! I learned the bass from Final Fantasy II!" And then, proceeded to play it.

After a long silence from everyone in the room, save for the sounds coming from the bass, Kim was the first to speak up. "Scott, you're the salt of the earth."

"What?" You and Stephen asked in unison, confused.

"Oh, I'm sorry, excuse me. I meant scum of the earth." Kim corrected herself, not hiding any ounce of annoyance towards Scott.

There was a knock on the door, and you got up to open it. There stood Knives, smiling. "Oh, hey there, Knives. What's up? How'd it go with your parents?"

"I convinced them to let you come over for dinner tomorrow." Knives said, and her smile didn't waver. "Uh... they were really insistent in meeting you tonight, though."

"That's... odd, but I'm cool with it." You nodded. "I'll make sure to be there on time."

"Cool. See you then." Knives replied, and ran off.

- Just before going to Knives' house -

"So, you both got big nights, eh?" Wallace said, grinning. "Y/N's gonna solidify a friendship, and Scott's gonna fatten up his girlfriend for the kill."

"Anything to be on good terms with anyone I meet. It's nice to not have enemies." You shrugged, unwrapping the chain and putting it in your pocket. You didn't want to make bad impressions with Knives' parents.

"Both of you just get out! Begone! Enough!" Scott yelled, shooing the both of you away.

"Hey, come on, I have to eat before she gets here and you kick me out!" Wallace protested, holding an empty plate.

"There's only enough for me and Rammy!" Scott argued, and pointed outside.

You and Wallace paused, stared at each other, and shot Scott a "Really? 'Rammy' is your nickname for her now?" look.

As usual, Wallace was the one that vocalized this feeling. "'Rammy?' Are you seriously calling her that?"

"Not to her face." Scott replied, looking off to the side.

- DING DONG -

"She's here! Oh my god, oh my god!" Scott panicked.

"I'll get it." Wallace said, walking to the door.

"And I'll get going." You stated, and followed behind Wallace.

"Good evening. Welcome." Wallace greeted as he opened the door for Ramona.

"Uhh... hi. Wallace, right?" Ramona questioned, receiving a nod from the man.

"Yellooo. Hey there." You waved as you walked by the two. "Also, bye because I'm leaving."

"Hey! Come on in!" Scott invited. "Wallace, it's time for you to get your coat on. So do like Wyenn and get out."

After that, you heard their conversation, but faded as you walked away further and further.

- At Knives' house -

You knocked on the door, and soon it opened, revealing a very excited Knives. "Hi, Wyenn! Glad you made it!"

"Glad to be here, Knives." You smiled, and stepped inside the house. "So, when's your parents getting here? Where should I wait?"

"Oh, they're already here." Knives said, and grabbed your hand to pull you somewhere.

"Woah, where's the rush?" You questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"It's not a rush. I'm just... excited." Knives explained. "You're a very nice person, and I think my parents would like you."

"Uh-huh." You simply said, not sure how else to reply.

And so, things played out how they mostly do for you: fairly smoothly. Knives' dad, Mr. Chau, shot you some mean looks through his sunglasses, but after enough convincing that you were just a friend, he calmed down and had a chat with you.

Although you were on edge throughout the whole time, because, again, Mr. Chau was intimidating as fuck. But everything went well, and soon enough, you were in even better terms with Knives.

Though, you could've sworn you heard Scott's voice all the way from Wallace's house. It was a bit subtle, but you heard a, "BREAD MAKES YOU FAT?!" in the distance.
