Well-Placed Trust

- The Next Morning, 8am -

You didn't have as much hours of sleep as you'd hoped, but hey, it's enough. You can take a nap at some point in the day. But right now, you had to go back to Lisa and Scott. Your faith remained strong, a bit of trust, and you believed he didn't do anything stupid.

You knocked, entered the apartment, and found Scott barely waking up on the couch, a pizza box on the table, sodas, a freshly brewed cup of coffee, and Lisa wide and awake, sitting on the opposite end of the couch.

"Wha? Y/N?" Scott slowly sat up.

"Don't worry, it's early. It's like 8am." Lisa explained.

"What'd we do?" Scott asked.

"You don't remember?" You wondered, walking up.

"I'm a little out of it and... I mean... what did we do?" Scott inquired.

"You mean did we make out? Did we 'do it'?" Lisa asked.

"D-did we?" Scott asked, and he sounded scared, which tilted you to think he did do something. You held your breath in anticipation.

"No, we didn't. Because you pushed me away and started babbling about how you're so in love with Ramona, and I started to cry, and you tried to cheer me up, and we ordered pizza and got really loud and then my sister came out and freaked on us." Lisa explained. "So we shut up, and you fell asleep, and I went back to the guest room."

You slumped against the wall, sliding down to the ground as you let out the breath you had been holding, relief washing over you. He did not mess it up. You were right, your faith wasn't misplaced, and your trust wasn't wrong.

+ Good Karma!

"So I actually used the l-word?" Scott inquired.

"God, you really are in love with her, aren't you? This is serious." Lisa chuckled.

"Scott, no words can describe just how proud of you I am." You beamed, patting his shoulder.

"Yeah... I'm in love?" Scott wondered, before his expression became more sure. "I'm in love. Yeah, that's the one. I'm in love!"

"Anyway, you can tell her the truth - that nothing ever happened between us, and nothing ever will. Bleh..." Lisa said, taking a sip of her coffee.

Scott stood up triumphantly, determined. "Lisa... I have to go now. Y/N, c'mon. We have to go see Ramona!"

"But first, go to work, then go see Ramona. You're gonna be late." You advised, following behind him.

"...Right!" Scott exclaimed as he turned the other way and ran off.

- At the Happy Avocado -

"You're late." Dominique said as Scott entered the restaurant.

"Won't happen again, promise! Can I keep working here, please?" Scott asked, pleading.

"...Yeah, okay. Get in the kitchen. It's not like we have anyone to replace you." Dominique accepted, pointing at the kitchen.

"Yes!" Scott beamed, rushing into the kitchen to wash dishes straight away.

"Scott, if your life had a face, I would punch it in the balls. Seriously." Stephen, who was on cooking duty today, said.

"He's improving, man. You have no idea how proud he made me today." You assured, talking from the nearest table to the kitchen, sipping on a glass of water.

"If you say so." Stephen rolled his eyes.

- Afterward... -

"And now that you're done, we're gonna go see Ramona." You stated.

"Oh, right." Scott nodded. "Let's go. I kinda know how to use the Subspace stuff now, so let's look for a door."

After a good minute of looking around the street, you found a white door with a star on it, the latter a trait that indicated this was a door to the Subspace. Not thinking much about it, you both entered and ended up in...

Well, you couldn't really put a secure word on it. It was some sort of shed, with black and white tiled flooring, flames replacing walls, and something resembling a throne in the middle of the room. Everything was purple in color tone.

Some shadowy figure with glasses was sitting on the throne, and Ramona was on her knees, simply sitting beside it. She looked happy, but in a way that made things unsettling.

"Ramona? Is this... your head? Am I in your head?" Scott wondered, his expression that of shock and confusion.

"What's going on? What's that? Do you need help?" You added, approaching Ramona.

"What are you two doing here?!" Ramona panicked, her voice shaky. "Get out!"

"What is this?" Scott questioned.

"We can help, just tell us what's happening." You offered.

"Stop looking at me!" Ramona pleaded, standing up and rushing at you two, knocking you through a mirror and out of her head back into reality. "How dare you?!"

"We're sorry, Ramona! But there's a good reason why we're here!" You apologized.

"Y-yeah! I wanted to talk to you, I didn't know that was what went on in your head, honest." Scott added.

"Okay, okay. It's not either of your faults, and I guess it's only fair. Just... forget what you both saw, alright?" Ramona requested, sighing.

"Saw what? I saw nothing. I have no idea what you're talking about." You replied.

"Me neither, I didn't see anything. And if I did, it was nothing. Nothing at all." Scott agreed, nodding.

"Good. Anyway, I thought about it, and I... I'm not mad at you, Scott. I was being immature, and-" Ramona began. "And I'm sorry."

"Look, uh, as far as full disclosure, I stayed over at Lisa's last night." Scott confessed.

"You what?" Ramona's eyes widened in surprise.

"Now wait a moment. Please? Like I said, good reason." You urged, helping her settle down.

"Wallace had someone over and you were mad at me and Lisa's number was in my pocket and Y/N didn't have video and I didn't know what else to do!" Scott frantically explained.

"True, true, true, true, and true." You confirmed. "I was there."

"Ramona, I... it's not-" Scott continued.

"Are you in love with her?" Ramona questioned.

"What? No!" Scott shook his head.

"He's not lying, something happened, and he proved his faithfulness, and I'm still in awe." You explained.

"Yeah, I'm in love with-" Scott began, before he was interrupted by someone inside Ramona's house.

"Wha's goin' on, Rammy? I'm try'na sleep up in here..." Roxie asked, coming down the stairs, rubbing her eyes.

"She... she is staying with you...?" Scott inquired.

"You guys ready to break up yet?" Roxie snarked as she leaned on one of the stairs' banister.

"Oh, God..." Ramona facepalmed. "Scott, I... I'll explain later, okay? Just... walk it off."

"O-okay..." Scott sighed, leaving for the time being.

Meanwhile, you stayed outside, and began thinking. Matthew, Lucas, and Todd were already redeemed, and this is the fourth ex. How to go about making things better? How to go about the whole thing?

"Quit trying to make sense of everything, you're too soft." A voice spoke up, one similar to your own. "Just stop the attempt. There's no pleasing everyone. Why would you even bother with a guy like Scott?"

You turned around, and saw a reflection of yourself, but they wore a dark red hoodie, and the denim they wore was slightly darker. Also, the area around their eyes was dimmer.

On their back, red, flowing hawk wings. They looked as if they were painted on with crimson red graffiti. They also had hollowed holes in the shape of bones, dripping red paint on the floor.

"If I didn't bother, I would end up like you. What even happened to you?" You responded. "What happened to me?"

"You were always a wuss. I became better." The other you replied. "You could've been stronger. You could've done anything you wanted, and then some. But no. You were too cowardly to go through the trouble, and thus, the trouble came to you."

"I did what I think is right. And what is right is anything that you wouldn't do." You shot back.

"That's where we disagree." They shrugged. "I'll always be a part of you, and if you're not careful, I'll be in control."

"You're not real, and you never will be." You stated, confident in your words. "Now, leave."

"For now, but I'll come back. You'll never be able to get rid of me." The other you chuckled, before fading.
