Raine could feel Kairo's gaze lingering on her, analyzing, dissecting—waiting for her to slip.
Too bad for him, she didn't break easily.
She leaned casually against the desk, mirroring his confidence. "So, what now? Are we just going to stare at each other all night?"
Kairo smirked. "Depends. Are you planning to break into any more offices?"
Raine rolled her eyes. "Like I'd be stupid enough to get caught twice."
Kairo chuckled, his voice low and teasing. "I don't think you're stupid. Just reckless." He tilted his head. "And I like that."
Danger.
That sentence alone was a warning. Kairo Lin was a player, but his games weren't just for fun.
She needed to turn the tables.
Raine took a step closer, deliberately closing the space between them. Kairo's smirk didn't waver, but his eyes darkened slightly. Good. Let him be the one caught off guard for once.
"Since you seem so interested in me," she murmured, voice dripping with amusement, "maybe I should be asking questions instead."
Kairo chuckled. "Careful, Raine. You might not like my answers."
She smirked. "Try me."
