Chapter 16: Secrets Beneath the Spotlight

Kairo's smirk didn't falter, but his golden eyes sharpened. "Alright, sweetheart. Let's play."

Raine crossed her arms. Time to turn the hunter into the hunted.

"You're Kairo Lin—idol, golden boy, Vortex Entertainment's future legend. But you're also the son of Lin Corp's CEO. So why are you here, drowning in choreography instead of sitting on a corporate throne?"

Kairo's smirk deepened. She hit a nerve.

"I could ask you the same thing," he murmured. "Why is a nobody rookie moving like a veteran?"

Raine chuckled. "Dodge all you want, but I asked first."

Kairo tilted his head, watching her. "Simple. I don't want to be someone else's puppet."

The way he said it—calm, smooth—sent a ripple of curiosity through her.

Was that it? Or was there more?

"Your turn," Kairo said. "Who taught you to dance like that?"

Raine smirked. "Maybe I was just born talented."

Kairo let out a soft laugh, shaking his head. "Liar."

She was.

But she wasn't going to let him know that.

Not yet. Not ever.
