That afternoon, I entered the operating room.

The surgery began.

As the scalpel cut through my skin, the intense pain made me clench my teeth.

"Annie, hang in there."

I opened my eyes to see him standing next to the operating table.

"I'll be by your side the whole time, until the surgery is over."

I nodded, feeling an indescribable warmth in my heart.

Each time the blade sliced through my skin, each time a wound was sutured, the pain nearly made me faint.

But I knew I couldn't give up.

After the surgery, I was wheeled back to my room.

Kael's eyes were full of concern and sympathy.

"Annie, you did great."

"From now on, you'll be free of those scars and start a new life."

Meanwhile, Archer sat in a dimly lit room, a glass of whiskey in his hand.

He couldn't remember how long it had been since he'd left the house.
