Chapter 9

"We're over. What right do you have to disturb my life?"

He doesn't respond, raising his hand to knock me unconscious.

When I open my eyes again, I'm in an unfamiliar room.

"You're awake."

Archer sits in a chair opposite me, his gaze complex.

"Archer, have you lost your mind?"

"What gives you the right to knock me out and take me away? Do you think this solves anything?"

His eyes quiver slightly.

"Annie, I can't live without you. You know damn well our story shouldn't end like this. We were so in love once, I don't believe you've forgotten everything."

"Shouldn't end?"

"Archer, have you forgotten what you did to me? You killed my four children! You burned them! You forced me to clear Melody's name, made me admit to false charges in front of everyone! You even threatened me with the nightclub's survival, and now you're telling me 'it shouldn't end'? Do you think I'm still that naive girl who'll forgive you for anything?"
