Chapter 85: Brother, We Are Qualified!

One by one, the candidates submitted their application forms and received their number plates. When it was Menma's turn, Morino Ibiki couldn't help but glance at him with extra scrutiny.

So this is the son of the Fourth Hokage… and already this old?

He'd heard that Menma entered the Anbu right after graduating from the Academy—unbelievable talent.

Menma noticed Ibiki's gaze, looked up, and gave him a casual smile before heading to his seat.

Looking down at the test paper in front of him, Menma sighed. I have no clue what this is. Maybe Naruto can figure it out, but me? A proud slacker? Forget it.

Meanwhile, Naruto stared down at his test paper and muttered, "Too easy."

At that moment, he finally realized just how much effort his brother had been putting into training him.

Once all the candidates had received their number plates and test papers, they returned to their seats. Morino Ibiki stood at the front, addressing them:

"This first test comes with several important rules. I won't be answering any questions during the exam, so listen closely."

Ibiki picked up a piece of chalk and began writing on the board.

"First rule: Everyone starts with ten points. The test has ten questions, worth one point each. Points will be deducted for every wrong answer. So if you miss three questions, you'll have seven points left. Second rule: Whether your team passes or fails will be based on the total score of all three members."

Menma raised an eyebrow. Wait… I'm alone. Am I supposed to make a Shadow Clone or something? Guess Tsunade must've arranged something ahead of time.

Ibiki continued, "Third and most important rule: Cheating—or anything that resembles cheating—will cost you two points per offense. If you're caught cheating five times, you're out. Anyone foolish enough to cheat sloppily is basically digging their own grave. You're aiming to become Chunin. Act like professional ninja."

Got it, got it… so it's a "cheat cleverly" kind of test, Menma thought with a smirk.

He had come prepared.

If Dad or the Second Hokage knew I was using this trick, they'd probably climb out of their graves and kill me themselves~

Ibiki continued, "Also, if any member of your team gets a zero, your entire team is disqualified."

He paused dramatically, then added, "The final question will be given 45 minutes after the start of the exam. You have one hour total. Begin!"

Confusion rippled through the classroom. What kind of test is this?!

Naruto, however, grinned and confidently picked up his pen. I believe in Sasuke and Sakura!

The rest of the candidates also began writing.

As for Menma—he didn't even pick up a pen. He just leaned back, resting his head on his hands and closing his eyes.

Ibiki: ̄□ ̄|| Are you here to sleep or take an exam?

Thirty minutes passed. Then, Menma opened his eyes slowly.

Alright, that should be enough time.

In a flash, he vanished from his seat.

He appeared behind Hinata, glancing at her test. Hinata sensed someone beside her, looked up—and saw no one.

Was that… an illusion?

A second later, Menma appeared behind Sakura, then Naruto, then instantly returned to his seat.

Then he finally picked up his pen and began to write.

His movement stunned Ibiki and all the Konoha Chunin proctors.

"Flying Thunder God Jutsu?!"

This was an S-rank space-time ninjutsu created by the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju. It allowed the user to instantly teleport to marked locations. Only the Second and Fourth Hokage had ever mastered it. And both of them were long gone…

But now, here it was again—reborn through Menma.

Indeed, Menma had used the Flying Thunder God Jutsu. Among all the ninjutsu he knew, this one had taken him more than two years to master. Before the exam even started, he had marked all nine of Naruto's team members in secret with the Flying Thunder Seal.

Ibiki couldn't help but smile. So he really is the Fourth Hokage's son...

He'd even heard that Menma had successfully become the Nine Tails' Jinchuriki and was in full control of it. If that were true, then Konoha had a terrifyingly powerful asset on its hands.

Mastery of the Flying Thunder God… plus full control of the Nine Tails?

Ibiki was certain—Menma would surpass his father in time.

"Candidate #59—eliminated after five warnings!"

"Candidate #33—eliminated!"

Time ticked on, and eventually, 45 minutes passed.

Ibiki smiled slightly and said, "Alright. Time for the tenth question. But before I give it to you, there's one more condition."

A candidate raised their hand. "What if we choose not to answer the tenth question?"

Ibiki answered, "Then that candidate will receive zero points and will be disqualified—along with their entire team."

Everyone was immediately outraged.

Unfair!

There are people here who've taken the exam before!

Menma chuckled softly. This test… is actually well-designed.

It wasn't just about answering questions—it tested intelligence gathering, team trust, and decision-making under pressure. The tenth question was a test of teamwork and trust: Do you believe in your teammates enough to risk it all for them?

Kiba stood up angrily and pointed at Ibiki. "This is a stupid rule! What about the repeat exam takers?!"

Ibiki grinned. "Tough luck. I'm the one in charge this year. If you don't have the confidence, just back out now. Pick another year."

He turned serious.

"Those who choose NOT to answer the final question—raise your hand. Once confirmed, you'll leave immediately."

Naruto sat still. No way I'm raising my hand.

Sasuke and Sakura sat firm too.

Eventually, someone stood up.

"I'm out. I'm not answering!"

"Candidate #50 eliminated. Candidates #130 and #111 eliminated as well!"

One group walked out.

Ibiki called out again, "Anyone else?"

Several more groups got up and left, one after another.

Ibiki looked around, nodding in approval—especially at the Konoha genin. Then he announced:

"Very well. Those of you who remain have passed the first exam."

"Brother, we passed!" Naruto stood up and shouted proudly in Menma's direction.

Menma smiled and nodded back.

Ibiki, observing their interaction, allowed himself a small smirk.

Interesting… twin brothers, huh?
