The atmosphere in Class 1-A was tense, but charged with excitement.
After Aizawa had skipped the orientation, students were left reeling. Some murmured about the test being unfair, while others wondered if U.A. really was going to throw them straight into combat training on day one.
For Ryo Kisaragi, it was just another mundane exercise.
Adjusting his U.A. gym uniform, he flexed his fingers, the snug fabric stretching over his lean but battle-hardened frame.
The class had gathered on one of U.A.'s massive training fields, a place designed to withstand the power of future heroes.
Aizawa stood before them, holding a tablet.
"We're conducting a Quirk Assessment Test," he announced dryly. "This will measure your physical and Quirk capabilities. The results will tell me whether you're actually fit to be at U.A."
Several students stiffened.
Then—
"Come in last, and you'll be expelled."
A collective gasp spread through the group.
"EXPELLED?! ON THE FIRST DAY?!"
A brown-haired girl—Ochako Uraraka—raised a hand, looking nervous.
"Um… isn't that a little extreme?"
Aizawa didn't even blink. "This is U.A. We don't coddle students. You're here to be heroes. If you can't handle this, leave."
Some students visibly paled.
But Ryo?
He smirked. "Finally. A real test."
Pre-Test Banter – Rivalries Begin
Before the test began, students huddled into small groups, nerves running high.
A spiky-haired blonde with red eyes scoffed loudly—Katsuki Bakugo.
"Tch. A bunch of weaklings crying over a test? Pathetic."
Beside him, a red-haired guy with sharp teeth grinned, nudging Bakugo—Eijiro Kirishima.
"Still, man, this is gonna be cool! I wanna see what kind of quirks everyone has!"
Bakugo clicked his tongue. "I already know I'm the best. The rest of these extras don't matter."
Then—
A low chuckle came from nearby.
Bakugo's eye twitched.
He turned sharply. "Something funny, jackass?"
Standing with his hands casually tucked in his pockets, Ryo Kisaragi met his glare.
His smirk was mocking. "Dunno. You talk a lot for someone who barely made the Top 5 in the entrance exam."
Bakugo's expression darkened immediately.
"The hell did you just say?" His palms crackled with mini-explosions.
Ryo's gaze didn't waver. "You heard me."
The tension thickened, students sensing a fight about to break out.
Then—
"Hey! You two should save that for the test!"
Ryo turned his head.
Kirishima grinned despite the hostile atmosphere.
"You're both strong, right? No need to fight before we even start!"
Ryo stared at him for a second.
Then, he shrugged. "Fair enough."
He walked off, leaving Bakugo seething.
"That bastard—"
Kirishima patted his shoulder. "Relax, man. He's just messing with you."
Bakugo gritted his teeth but said nothing.
For now.
Test 1: The Softball Throw
Aizawa brought the students to an open field with marked distances for the first event.
"You'll throw a softball as far as you can," he explained. "Use your Quirks freely. Just don't leave the circle."
The first to step up was Ochako Uraraka.
She took the ball, tossed it into the air—
"Zero Gravity!"
The ball floated endlessly, disappearing into the sky.
The monitor blinked.
"INFINITY."
The class erupted.
"SHE THREW IT INTO SPACE?!"
Uraraka laughed nervously. "Hehe… guess I overdid it."
Then came Bakugo's turn.
Grinning savagely, he wound up his throw—
"DIEEEE!!!"
A massive explosion propelled the ball forward.
It soared past every marker, the monitor reading 705.2 meters.
Bakugo turned smugly. "Beat that, extras."
Then—
"Next. Kisaragi."
The class turned as Ryo stepped forward.
Some expected brute force. Others expected precision.
Instead—
"Fire."
A thin, controlled optic beam shot from his crimson-gold eyes, striking the ball mid-throw.
Instead of launching normally—
The beam fed into it, accelerating it faster… and faster…
Then—
BOOM.
A sonic boom erupted.
The ball vanished from sight.
The scoreboard flickered.
"OUT OF BOUNDS: MAXIMUM SENSOR RANGE EXCEEDED."
Silence.
Then—
"WHAT?!"
Aizawa raised an eyebrow, mildly impressed.
Ryo rolled his shoulders. "Huh. Should've expected that."
Behind him—
Bakugo was twitching uncontrollably.
"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!"
Ryo glanced over his shoulder.
His smirk was taunting. "Something wrong, Explosion Boy?"
Bakugo almost lunged, but Kirishima grabbed his shoulders.
"Dude, don't. You'll explode the school."
Bakugo growled but stepped back, glaring daggers at Ryo.
Ryo?
He just yawned.
The remaining tests continued, each one further showcasing Ryo's overwhelming capabilities. In the 50-meter dash, while others relied on pure speed, Ryo simply blasted himself forward using his optic beams, completing the sprint in less than a second—so fast that the motion sensors barely had time to register his movement.
For the grip strength test, he casually picked up the device and squeezed; the pressure gauge cracked instantly, forcing the examiners to search for a stronger one that could withstand his power.
When it came to the endurance jump, students either leaped as high as they could or used their Quirks to gain extra height. But Ryo? He simply hovered midair, his beams adjusting his position effortlessly, making it nearly impossible for the teachers to measure a proper distance.
The final test, the long-distance sustained sprint, became another easy victory. While others relied on footwork and stamina, Ryo gracefully weaved through the course, using his multi-beam control to blast obstacles aside without breaking his momentum. By the end of the physical assessment, there was no doubt—he had completely outclassed everyone.
By the end—
The final rankings updated.
🔹 1st: Ryo Kisaragi🔸 2nd: Momo Yaoyorozu
🔸 3nd: Shoto Todoroki🔹 4th: Katsuki Bakugo🔸 5th: Tenya Iida🔹 6th: Fumikage Tokoyami
Bakugo stared at the rankings, fists clenching.
"He… he beat me?!"
Meanwhile, Todoroki simply observed silently, analyzing Ryo's power.
Aizawa let out a tired sigh. "Test complete. You all passed. Barely."
Some students collapsed from exhaustion, relieved.
Ryo?
He stretched lazily, unfazed.
"That's it?"
Aizawa gave him a look.
"Get used to it, Kisaragi. You're in U.A. now. This was just the warm-up."
Ryo smirked.
"Then bring on the real challenge."
