Chapter 13

EMILY’S POV

The air between Christian and I thickened with tension as I glared at him, waiting patiently for him to leave. Tyler was still in my arms, his sobs becoming softer as I held him to my chest, rubbing his back slowly.

"Our bond isn’t over, Emily. You know that." He said and anger spun through me. I had told him so many times that we weren't mates anymore, but he still clung to the idea that we still were.

Before I could respond, James stepped in between us, his body shielding me from Christian’s gaze.

“You need to leave, Christian," James growled, “She already told you she isn't your mate anymore. Let her go!” James echoed.

“You don't have….” Christian began but James cut him off mid-sentence.

"All you ever brought to her life was pain and betrayal. If you had any conscience at all you'd leave her life alone."

Christian’s eyes flickered with disdain as he stared James down. "And who are you to tell me what to do?" he asked, his voice sharp and piercing.
