Chapter 14

CHRISTIAN'S POV

I drove recklessly down the driveway of the mansion, storming through the grand doors in rage. The door slammed loudly behind me, echoing through the house.

My face was set in a deep frown, my heart was still pounding as I made my way to my study, throwing off my jacket in annoyance.

I unlocked the study stumbling in, closing the door behind me in one quick motion. The room was dark, papers strewn all over my mahogany desk, the dark curtains hindering the light from the window.

I strode across the room, reaching for the half-empty whiskey bottle in the bar. I picked up a shot glass as I walked behind my desk and leaned back in my chair.

I poured a few pints for myself, throwing it back in one single gulp. The alcohol burned my throat but I savored the pain.

In a few minutes, I was sitting alone in the dark office, swirling the amber liquid in my glass as I stared at nothing, the whiskey bottle empty.
