Chapter 23

EMILY'S POV

Sunday arrived too quickly for my liking. My mind was reeling with so many questions as I walked into the children's room.

Was I making a huge mistake? Can I trust Christians around my children?

I pushed my dark thoughts aside as I got the boys ready, they all wore blue cotton shirts and khaki trousers, their blonde hair combed and slicked back.

Their eyes were wide with curiosity as we stepped out of the SUV heading for the restaurant. They could sense the tension in my body and kept stealing worried glances at me, I flashed them a small smile to calm them down.

We entered the restaurant, and an involuntary smile broke out on my face as I saw Christian's mother, Marie.

Her kind face broke into a warm smile as she rushed to embrace me. I slowly relaxed into her arms, her touch filled with warmth, I have missed all these years.
