Chapter 27

CHRISTIAN'S POV

I sat at the head of the board table, my fingers drumming on the wooden surface with impatience as I stared at the documents in front of me.

The words on the papers blurred together as I kept looking at them. My mind kept drifting to the look on Emily's face, filled with anger as she shouted her accusations at me. Beyond her rage, I could hear the fear in her voice, she was terrified of almost losing her children.

She believed I had been behind the kidnapping attempt; how could she think I would stop so low as to steal her children? And I couldn't even convince her.

I unconsciously squeeze the papers in my tight grip. “Alpha Chris, are you listening?” One of the board members asked, his eyes fixed on the document destroyed in my hands.
