Anita’s POV
The door clicked shut behind Damian, leaving Alpha Hades and me standing in the quiet tension that filled the room. I was acutely aware of the sound of my own breathing, and for a moment, neither of us said anything. His intense eyes lingered on mine, his expression unreadable. Then, he coughed awkwardly and took a half-step back, his hands releasing their firm grip on my waist.
“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice softer than I expected.
I nodded quickly, brushing imaginary dust off my shirt to avoid meeting his gaze. “I’m fine. Just caught off guard.”
He nodded but didn’t look convinced. His eyes searched mine for something, though I wasn’t sure what. “If you’re having any difficulties… within the pack, or with anything else, you can tell me. You know that, right?”
