Chapter 2

Soren had worn a watch of the same style.

As I carefully recalled, I realized that the watch on Soren's wrist was identical to the one visible in Felicity's social media photo.

The possibility of an affair between him and Felicity seemed high.

Furious, I took time off work to catch them in the act.

But just as I got into my car, I remembered I'd forgotten my asthma inhaler at home.

I had no choice but to go back.

However, when I returned home, I discovered my inhaler had vanished into thin air.

With no one else at home, how could the inhaler just disappear?

I had a sinking feeling in my gut.

As an asthma attack hit, I coughed violently, feeling like the air was being squeezed out of my lungs bit by bit.

I opened my mouth wide, but couldn't draw in a single breath of oxygen.

My vision started to darken. With my last ounce of strength, I reached for the cake on the table.

A cool, sweet sensation exploded in my mouth. The essence in the cake eased my symptoms considerably.

I decided to personally visit the couple's restaurant from that photo!

At the restaurant, when I asked to check the security footage, I was told the cameras were broken.

I looked around but didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.

The staff couldn't provide any useful information either. On the wishing board on the wall, Soren's initials "KZ" were written in English, followed by a heart and the words "love you" next to it.

I didn't write this. It was most likely Felicity.

Had he and Felicity been here on a date?

While I was still in a daze, my phone suddenly rang.

It was my mother-in-law calling.

"Vivienne, does Kaiser have time tomorrow? How about coming over for a family dinner this weekend?"

I hesitated for a moment before agreeing.

This might be a good opportunity to investigate their relationship.

For now, I can't tell my mother-in-law about this to avoid tipping them off.

The weekend arrived in the blink of an eye.

Soren and I went to his parents' house together.

In the car, Soren suddenly kissed my forehead. I instinctively flinched away.

Soren paused for a moment. Seeing my resistance, he surprisingly didn't get angry. Instead, he gently ruffled my hair and spoke softly.

"Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you."

Why did those words give me such a chilling feeling?

Won't hurt me?

Soren, what exactly are you planning to do?

When we arrived at his parents' house, my sister-in-law came to greet us and took my hand.

"Sis, come sit down!"

I nodded with a smile and followed her to the dining table.I just sat down when my sister-in-law suddenly said, "Sis, you know Felicity, right? She was my college classmate!"

Felicity!

It was really her!

After dinner, I saw my mother-in-law and sister-in-law go into the kitchen. I followed and eavesdropped nearby.

"Don't mention Felicity in front of Vivienne anymore!"

My mother-in-law's voice was soft but carried a warning tone.

I was stunned.

Could it be that my mother-in-law knew about Felicity too?

There must be some serious issues between Soren and Felicity!

I leaned against the kitchen doorway, facing the direction of my mother-in-law and sister-in-law.

"Mom, what's there to be afraid of? Felicity and I are close, we went to the same college!"

"She even pursued Kaiser back then! But Kaiser is really outstanding, so it's normal that people would chase after him, right, sis?"

Listening to this conversation from outside, I realized I had been discovered.

My emotions were like being struck by lightning, looking at my mother-in-law in disbelief.

My mother-in-law nodded helplessly.

I instinctively avoided Soren's gaze.He said he didn't date in college.

Felicity had pursued him before, why didn't he tell me?

Of course, they were having an affair. Soren would never tell me about it!

The garden air was fresh. I took a deep breath, trying to calm the turbulent waves in my heart.

I took out my phone and arranged to meet Felicity the next day.

Being close to my sister-in-law made it much easier to set up the meeting.

She agreed.

It was time for the mistress and the wife to face off.

That evening, Soren came over to talk to me: "Vivienne, why have you been so gloomy lately?"

"I'm tired. I'm sleeping in the study tonight."

I pushed him away coldly.

Ignoring Soren's calls, I walked into the study by myself.

I lay on the small bed in the study, tossing and turning.

Finally, I dialed the number of my childhood friend and lawyer, Mason.

"Damien, my husband is cheating. I want to gather evidence."

"Alright!"

I arranged to meet Mason at a coffee shop.

He was showing me some documents, and I was studying them carefully when I suddenly heard a familiar voice nearby.

"Brother, you should eat too..."

I looked up abruptly.

It was Felicity!

And there was a strange man with her.
