"Look girl, you can't make decisions for me. What the hell were you even thinking?!"I yelled at her.
She was sober and somehow I felt a little regretful.
"I'm sorry. I didn't see it as a hard decision."She licked her lower purple lip. "You really need to go out. Have a little fun. I only..."
"I know. But I don't want to. I'm not going anywhere. You decieved Miss Roona."I climbed my bed.
"You should go Paige. If you want to restore back your image in this school, I mean...your school. I don't know what the full story is but I really think you need to win back the hearts of your classmates. Staying away from them won't help."
"You don't know what you are saying. I don't care about my image. I don't care about anything!"
"But you are hurting yourself by staying here, tonight, every damn night. I see you Paige."
"You see me. You don't even know me! "
"I don't have to." She climbed up to me. "I know you're not okay. I know you hurt yourself. I saw blood yesterday. It's your blood. I know. Do you think you're alone?"
"Are you alone?"I asked, tears already forming at the brim of my eye.
"I'm not. Not anymore. Since I have you."She embraced me.
"You're not alone Paige. I don't know what is eating you up. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. But I really think you should give yourself a chance at life. I'm doing that also."
"You don't know me." I murmured.
She held my teary face to hers. She was in tears too.
"Look at me, I'm still deaf. I can't hear you."
"I said you don't know me. You don't know..."
"I don't care. I don't have to." She paused. "Paige, go join them. I'm sure you'll have fun. Or if you don't, something would change about your life right now. Besides... You should be happy you can go out without having to risk your life like me."
If only she knew that it also meant same for me. If Jude Kam finds out I'm making associations, he's gonna have me quit this excursion. Going back home is pure death.
I only embraced her. "Thank you Andra."
I got my coat and left.
I had a long, fluffy, red and black coat on, an head warmer and weghed boots. I looked over at the circle of people -- my classmates, round a fire, I felt like I was the most extravagantly dressed. I always look different, and that's sickening. Miss Roona was the first to notice me.
"Hey Paige, over here. Come have a sit."She had secured a place by her side on the mat. Face down, I sat. Some guys hissed, some other tried to leave. Miss Roona stopped them just in time.
"Everyone sit!"They obliged. "Stop all these okay? "I noticed majority of the persons that tried to leave were girls. Do they hate me that much?
"I would not condone hatred of any sort in my class. For heaven's sake, you all are no longer kids. Any more hate from you and I'll ask the whole excursion to be cancelled."
The night went still silent.
"We are here to reunite. It's your last year. You should build bonds not create enemies. You, everyone of you have no right to hate your fellow. She's new in your school. You should be nice to her."
"Oh nice."A girl with a pink ribbon tied around her hair said. "It's alright."
"Good. Let's play a game. I'm not ready to give moonlight tales..."
"C'mon, Mis Roona, you just give us one"A boy jeered. The others joined in. Even the teacher.
"Let's play fortunately, unfortunately. We'll make a tale ourselves."
"After that, we should play Tee or Dee" (Tee or Dee, meaning truth or dare game.)
"Yeah!"
"Yay! Woohoo!"They cheered.
"I'll start."she said. I figured I would be the last.
"Fortunately, we have survived three years together in this school." She began.
"Unfortunately, things weren't really good, even now."
"Fortunately, we have grown in both strength and wisdom."
"Unfortunately, Our strength and wisdom isn't enough to put our shits together."
"Fortunately, we are here on an excursion to fix that."
"Unfortunately, that can't be fixed when we have the devil in our midst."
"Fortunately, the devil herself would have no choice but to change."
"Unfortunately, she had killed our trust and broken our bonds beyond repair."
"Fortunately,"Liam groaned. "It's not her fault, it's the devil."
Others laughed. Miss Roona glanced at me. I could tell she never expected the story to turn out like this and she doesn't want to spoil the fun. I faked a smile that I was okay.
"Unfortunately, she didn't get the punishment she deserved all in the name of power."
"Fortunately, for her, she only found a love interest."
"Unfortunately, her love interest was only her shadow."A naive boy added. They laughed.
"Fortunately, her shadow became something else. Someone else."
"Unfortunately, she got the worst love interest in the school, a guy with horns."
They jeered.
"Fortunately, he is charming and he has magic, enough to clear away her sorrows." A girl, likely to be a daydreamer added.
"Unfortunately, they would never admit and it would only be an interest"
"Fortunately, they had a chance to speak on the roof."
"Unfortunately, it was too late because she was about to jump down the roof and end her life."
I almost choked on my saliva. They are making a story of me in front of me and ... Gush!
Miss Roona glanced at me again and I faked a smile.
It's all good.
"Fortunately, her magic man used his magic to stop her."
"Unfortunately, she was too stubborn and the devil in her came out to play. She pushed him instead."
"Fortunately, he didn't die. He used his magic to stay up."
"Unfortunately, She had wronged more people and the whole school was bent on killing her. They were on the roof too."
"Fortunately, He kissed her." They all cracked up.
Then I noticed I actually was sitting next to Damien. I should have known, he sits next to the teacher always but all this while I haven't even looked up to anyone. I saw his stare in the dark night, almost peed in my pants. In the midst of the laughter, he was staring. What?! Why?!
"Unfortunately, they were both shot to death by the students."I finally said. They clapped, laughed. It was fun but I had mixed feelings. I've just been describe in this short punky story but who is the prince charming with horns?
