"What was that about huh?" Miss Roona questioned when she finally had the chance to. "What was that story about?"
"Anything, Miss Roona."Riley giggled.
"Teach', it was just a game, you won't punish us for that."
"Of course I won't. It better not be what I'm thinking..."
A guy with a bottle jumped into the circle. "Woohoo! It's time for the bottle game!"Everyone jeered. I saw miss Roona stand up to leave.
"I'll leave you guys to do that."
"C'mon teach', you should stay."Damien countered.
"I'm not a teenager. I'll go join the other guy teachers. You guys have fun!" She left.
The noise died down and soon the bottle was spinning. At first it started with truths being revealed. I was glad it didn't get to me. A girl confessed her crush on her class president. Another confessed that he still peed in his bed sometimes. It as hilarious but no so hot until the dares started. Truth and dare games always go this way and since we were much I expected more, even worse. I only watched until the bottle rolled to me. I almost cursed aloud.
"Paige, truth or dare." She said, beaming.
"Truth."I but my lip.
"Yeah! I have one question I've always wanted to ask."She smiled, winked at her friends. "Did you really kiss Damien at the principal's office? I mean that picture we all saw. How was it like?"
A murmur passed through the night as they waited for my response. I stole a short glance at Damien, he was smiling. What? He's making the whole thing look real!
"We..."I paused. "We" Isn't right. "I... I didn't ki...ss anyone. That picture..."
"You don't have to lie again. It'll be our little secret."She didn't even let me finish.
I was about to respond to her when Damien spoke. "Hei, you heard her. And It's the truth. Don't slow us down with your interrogations. Moving on!" He spinned the bottle.
It was Liam's turn to answer. I was quite surprised he went for "truth" not "dare."
"I heard you were the anonymous who got that gross photo of Damien leaked, is that true?"
"No!"
"Master Damien, have you ever kissed a girl?"
"No"
Then the creepy dares. I vowed silently that I won't pick a date for any reason.
"Class president, are you really a gay? If not, do you have a crush?"
Like everyone else, I was anxious to hear his reply.
"I'm not gay. Besides, I have a crush."
They laughed.
Then it was my turn.
"Paige, why do you always look sick?"A blonde golden haired girl asked.
"I..I.."I didn't see that coming. "I don't..."
"Yh, you look pale, all the time" Someone else added.
"Well, I don't know. It's my skin color maybe."
My turn again and this time I had said "dare" before thinking.
"I dare you to give Liam a lap dance for five minutes."
I wanted to choke.
"I can't"I gasped.
"Well, your price. You'll apologise to Liam publicly. Now."
I guess it's time. It wasn't hard for me, Andra, I owe all my courage to her. I walked over to Liam and sat in front of him, glad that he didn't move or make eye contacts.
"Hey, I'm sorry. I never meant to...hurt you. I'm sorry okay?"
The other clapped and cheered and laughed. I saw him smile at me, the way he does when he calls me "fairy baby". Maybe this was all he needed, my apology. Oh Liam!
"Is her apology accepted Liam?"
"Of course!"He tried to touch my head but I retracted quickly and walked back to my spot.
That wasn't as hard as I thought.
The game continued...
Then, Damien got control of the game again. Like the bottle turned to him consecutively.
"Describe your crush."
"I can't."
"Your price. You can't pay. I tell you"
"I'd rather pay the price."
"You'd give up your position as class president."
"Oh my!"He gushed. "This look more like a threat. I'll describe her in two words."I could see his cheeks turn deep pink and I wondered who the lucky girl was. Indeed, lucky. "Dumb and... Stupid. It'd better not be my turn again. I've had..."
It was his turn again!
"Dare"He groaned.
"Kiss Riley. For two minutes."
I saw Riley blush deeply. She looked like she had hoped for that all I life. A part of me burn in anger as we silently waited fo his response. He's really going to kiss her?!
"What's the price?"He asked. My heart jumped.
"You're really gay!"
"What's so bad in that?!"
"Damien has issues!"
"This dude!"
So many comments. I just... watched. I wish he was really gay. At least, then if have a reason not to fall for him.
"You'll spend a full day with a girl Damien. Gosh, you should grow up. You've avoided that gender enough. Grow up dude!"
"I will."He smiled, that heart melting smile. "Which girl? I'll pay the price instead."
"Choose yourself. A girl you'd like to kiss too, you know? "He winked.
"Okay then."
"Choose now!"
"I choose Paige Kam."
I bit my lip till it bled. He was staring at me with a smile that I could only notice from the corner of my eye because my head was hung so low. I didn't want to see anyone. He likes me back. If I died then, I would have died fulfilled, the happiest with a big smile on my face. Miss Roona interrupted their jeers.
"Paige, you have a call!"
I followed her second to her office.
"I apologise for taking you away from... I hope you had fun."She said as she tried to placed the call back at the reciever.
"Sure" I took the telephone.
It was my dad on the line.
"Paige Kam."He had said. "How are you doing over there?"
"I'm good. It's good over here."
"You sound a little stressed. Are you already in bed?"
"Hm."
"Okay, I'm coming over to pick you tomorrow."
What?!
"But Da... Uncle, our excursion isn't ending until next month."
"It's ending for you. Remember, I see everything. Pack your things. I've spoken with your school. I'd be there first thing tomorrow to pick you. Good night baby." And he hung up.
I was left there speechlessly broken.
