Chapter 64

"mum!" Sylvia cried at the feet of he mother, sobbing profusely. Her mother who was backing her seemed unshakable even by her tears.

" mum please. Don't let me...I'm sorry!"

" you're sorry?" he mother chuckled.

" Don't let me. I've got a lot to do! " she cried. " I need to be on the watch mother. I need to be here."

" I know you do have a lot to do. And you should not be sorry."

Sylvia continued to cry, gasping as if something was eating up her heart.

" Mum, the pain! It's too much for me. I can't leave. Please ..."

" I am your mother Sylvia!" her mother yelled. Sylvia's heart shrivelled.

" And I am your daughter!" she cried. " I do not hate you anymore. I swear!"

" I know. You never hated me " she said.

" I should be sorry. I want you to know that I always wanted the best for you... even now. You have to leave my cottage or you'll die. You have to leave!"

" leave? Leave?" she gasped." To where mum? I'm awaiting the chosen one. I can leave. She might never find me again."

" I'm proud of you daughter but you must leave. I'm sorry. Just leave!" She walked away, ignoring Sylvia's sobs.

***

Sylvia jumped out of bed. Her dream— the most mysterious ever. The first time she have seen her mother in decades. Sh opened a window by her bed and splashed water on her face.

What kind if dream is this? What message is my mother trying to pass across to me? Is she coming back? She cried as she pondered on her dreams. Her mother has just apologized to her in a dream, she's never done that... even when she was alive.

She felt guilty for being a stubborn child to her when she was alive, more guilty for having a hand in her death. In that dream, her mother have asked her to leave the cottage. It's quite strange but she wouldn't be stubborn this time. She'll do her mother's will.

Sylvia hurried out of bed and got dressed. She walked to the study, her favorite place in the house to clear her mind, but she saw a note written blood on the table.

It wrote: " we are coming. Death is coming."

Then she guessed immediately where all these things might be coming from. Her coven members might have sent the note. They might be angry, but why?

She got her power dress and teleported, to meet them.

***

Sylvia stood in the middle of a large medieval church. Sitted before her were the council chiefs and the leader of the coven, all dressed in white. All around her were seated members of the coven all in glowing white apparel.

She curtsied. They all had grins on their faces.

" you know your offence Sylvia." one of the council chiefs, sitted on the right hand of the leader, said.

Sylvia shook her head. " I know them not. I've served this coven with all I've got. I attend meetings and do all that you ask of "

" you accommodated a demon. it's a big sin."

That was long ago? Sylvia thought. Why is her punishment coming now? She only accommodated Joel for few hours in her house and that was because she needed to. It's really amazing that the fight between demons and witches never ends.

" I did that...a very long time ago master." she said. " it was only for a few hours..."

" That doesn't count here. You've lived only by grace since that day. You grace have been in vain, you might not live without a punishment for too long "

Sylvia had a lot to say but she dared not start.

" your grace is in vain Sylvia." another added

" since you allowed that demon into your home. You've not let him out. He lives in you."

That is because he's working with Katrienair, the chosen one . Sylvia wished she could say this.

She bowed. " I'd be glad if I'm allowed to explain myself master"

" Explain, you have all the right" the man on the throne said.

" I found the chosen one. The one written in our holy book. The long awaited savior. I found her."

" her?!" the congregation echoed.

" Yes , she is a girl, a lady." she continued after the noise had died down. " I found her and that demon only offered to help her. He's no more a demon by heart. He's changed himself. He attended a church. He named himself Joel. I fear he might be her mate. That would be history repeating itself but this is different. He wants to be one of us."

" You know that is not possible!" one of the council chiefs retorted., The leader waved his hands telling him to allow her speak.

" I had to keep him and watch him. It's destiny, master. He's the only one who could protect the chosen one."

" are you sure of what you are saying?" the leader questioned.

" I am hundred percent sure. She has the stone, not like ours. Hers is green. She's got the pearls too. She opened a vault with her name."

" any witch can do that."

" she is not a witch my Lord. She is the chosen one. She has that forbidden bloodline. She's that one person we have been searching for."

" Why didn't you tell us when you saw her? Why?"

" I wanted to protect her. I wanted to protect her purpose. Not everyone would want her to live. I had to keep her safe."

The room fell silent, there was thick tension in the air.

" where is she now? Where's the chosen one?"

Sylvia's face fell. " She died. She's with the demons now. I know she's fine there."

" how do you know all these things?"

" I monitor them, day and night."

" Why should we believe you?"

Sylvia raised her head, a slight smile formed at a corner of her cheek. " you don't have to believe me. I know I'm saying the truth. You'll all believe when the time comes."
