"You will rot in hell!"He yelled and turned to leave. Alistair stopped him.
"Who deserves to rot in hell Roger?"She spoke into the conch. "You have just one day to make a choice. It's either you come down here to surrender to us or we break into your walls."
Roger laughed, sounded like it rooted from some bottled forces in his chest. "You that kid! Let's see who lasts one day."He walked away.
I faced Alistair. She just made the wrong decision. Giving Roger even a second can change the way things are going.
"You know Roger would never surrender to us."
"I don't intend to keep him either"Alistair said. "Even if he surrenders, I won't let that devil live, never. It's better to catch the devil unawares. We are going in now."
I smiled. Alistair's smart. I guess you have to be a demon to fight a demon. I'm proud of her.
"So, how do we get in?"I asked. "The soldiers can't climb. They won't be caught unawares then."
Alistair nudged me by my side. "You know yesterday I told you there's nothing you can't do."
I nodded, blushing hard. I should not be. A warrior shouldn't... At a time like this.
"Though there might be somethings, not in this world though."She paused and took a long stare at the wall. "About the war, the both of us would bring it down and quietly. But before then, you need to go see Julian. We're about to clear off his people, he needs to be sure he's ready for this. Any wavering mind can pose danger to us. Besides, he can be easily spelled against us."
Gush! She seemed to know all Roger's next move.
"Okay sis."I saw Julian chit chatting with Ethan. I'm surprised they are getting along well. Sometimes I wonder why Julian gets along with every single person. Is he that nice? Or fun to be with?
I get jealous sometimes. Hmm...
"Joel"I called out on reaching them. "Can I see you?"
"Sure"He winked at Ethan and followed me.
"Anything wrong?"
"Not really."Then I realized I've asked the same question I'm about to ask before. "We are breaking down those walls. We'll go in there and probably kill your people Joel. Are you sure you want to do this? You won't get mad?"
Julian arched his brow. I felt the need to apologise. To explain to him that Alistair has sent me. I just waited, for his response.
"Katrienair, you know the answer to your question. I won't get mad. In fact, I'll be happy because we are fulfilling the scriptures" Scriptures? It's still very hard to believe that Julian attended a church and he believes in God.
"You would not cease to surprise me."I said, glaringly awed.
"It's my job. " He caressed my cheek. "Now go on and break the damn wall. I've got your back!"
"Jerk!"I spat, joining Alistair.
"Let's get to it. He's okay." Alistair held my hands and we were soaring in the sky again.
"These walls are not only fire proof but charmed all around to prevent anyone from climbing. It's their own form of shield."
"Ridiculous, isn't it? "I chuckled.
"Sincerely it is."She paused. "I remember the last time I broke a wall. I did it with Dad and this is how he instructed me. Do as I say okay? "
I nodded.
"This wall is just forty feet from.the ground and we are at the top of it. Close your eyes Katrienair, take a deep breath. What common weapon can be used to break a wall?"
"Anything heavy enough I think. A mallet or something."I answered without thinking.
"We'll choose a mallet then. Assume your feet turn to mallets. Tell me when you are completely in it."
It took some time, cause I had to clear off all that was on my mind.
"I'm ready."
"Okay. On the count of three, you kick. One , two, three..." We kicked the great Wall with just our feet and the great Wall caved in. I could see our army march into the castle, grins on their faces.
Before we joined them, Israel was already giving commands. The unexpected attack sent majority of Roger's soldiers down.
"Roger! We are in. You can come face us now."Alistair spoke into the conch. We succeeded in killing all the men at the gate, expecting Roger. After a while he did come out, flanked by his council chiefs and Raleigh. There were few soldiers behind him but they all kept their weapons, like he had asked them not to use it.
"You've done your worse haven't you?"Roger said. "What's your aim? Rule the world? You should have known from the start that it isn't possible. Little kids." He laughed.
"You've lost all your army and you still have the..."
"Shut up!"He shrieked. "Well, you think your magic would always be there to save you. Or rather your God? Do you think I give a damn about my Armys. Soldiers die in battle don't they?"
I had to chance it o examine his look. His size, I've seen that several times. He wore a black cape, no shirt, a necklace of shrunken heads and cannine tooth, he had a shawl placed over his left shoulder. Ugly old monster, perfect description!
"I have no business with anyone of you."He addressed the white coven soldiers. "But your team leaders who defied me. Claudia, you got out of that lake. Hm..." He groaned, clenching his fist. "Julian, you dared betray your father when all I do is reserve a throne for you."He paused, this time, for I long time. I felt like that broke him the most. "And you Little Lamb of the white coven..."He has never called Alistair by her name. "I can see you found your way out of my cage. I bet you will never be back there. I'll take you to the place you really belong."
He looked over at his companion. "Raleigh!"He called out. Raleigh stepped forward and bowed.
"Good. You know what would determine the victor of this war?"
He paused. "You'll have to go through me and Raleigh. He's certainly the heir now. The three of you, verses the two of us."
Then, I wished Roger knew what we had in store for him. Really, I thought he'd be smarter.
