After retrieving his old blade, Elian emerged onto the shore, pondering his next steps. Money. He urgently needed money.
Back during his trials, he had learned about rifts—tears in space from which hordes of monsters would emerge. After successfully clearing such places, hunters received crystals that could be exchanged for money at the bank.
Having made his decision, he headed to the Hunter Center, where assignments for rift clearance were given.
---
A day passed.
Elian chose a large rift, which, according to rumors, was swarming with monsters. Squads from various guilds had already set out—large groups of hunters, ready for battle. But Elian didn't care about their presence.
As he approached, a soldier in charge of observation shouted loudly:
— The rift is opening! All squads, prepare!
The spatial tear flashed, and monsters began to emerge. Hundreds of low-level beasts flooded the battlefield, and behind them stood ten colossal creatures radiating an aura of terror.
All the hunters instantly took battle positions. But while they were still forming up, Elian was already rushing toward the monster horde.
— WHAT IS HE DOING?! someone from the guilds shouted.
But it was too late.
Elian raised his sword, his eyes flaring with a cold light.
— Cleave that cuts through the Abyss.
A single swing—and hundreds of monsters were torn to pieces, their bodies falling to the ground without a sound.
The hunters didn't even have time to grasp what had happened before Elian was already airborne.
— Dark Thunderlord.
A deafening strike followed. Lightning poured from the sky, piercing the battlefield. The flashes of nature's fury incinerated the monsters one by one.
— HE KILLED THEM ALL WITH ONE STRIKE?!
Only the ten giants remained.
One of the guild leaders approached Elian.
— What the hell are you doing?! Don't go alone—work with us!
Elian didn't even look at him.
— I don't care.
In an instant, he vanished—reappearing near the giants. They didn't even have time to react.
— Destruction of the Cosmos.
Elian dashed through them, leaving behind only silence.
— WHAT ARE YOU DOING, RUN! someone from the hunters shouted.
But Elian had already sheathed his sword.
A second...
And all ten giants collapsed, cleaved in a single instant.
Behind him lay only a field littered with bodies.
The hunters stood frozen. No one could believe what they had just seen.
Elian scoffed as he walked past them.
— Now all the money is mine.
